General Evo observations
Re: General Evo observations
Let me clarify some things...
- The angle of the rear wing is adjustable
Again, per previous post, NOT adjustable.
- There is a cool sunglasses storage thing in the ceiling
Only on cars w/o a sunroof.
- You can see wavy heat lines coming out of the hood vent when you're sitting at a stoplight. Yikes.
Yes, HOT. Though, majority of the heat is from the headers of the exhaust directly under that vent. You would be able to cook a brat on there in the summer though.
- Mine makes a strange metallic 'clank' kind of sound when I go over bumps - possibly the reinforcing material?
Not sure what you are hearing here... not heard it myself.
- They recommend washer fluid for the IC sprayer!? Hmm.
They only suggest that if you are in a climate that water may freeze in. Personally, I'll put washer fluid in there in the winter and water during the summer.
- The break-in reqs in the manual are even stricter than what we're been told
600 miles under 5k rpm is recommended. 200miles on the tires and 300 miles for the brakes. (if memory serves me correctly)
- It's really easy to go way too fast on the freeway without even noticing - it's actually not a bad cruiser for a rally car
Absolutely 100% here. I was getting on the onramp today and all of a sudden noticed I was doing 95... ON THE ONRAMP!
It's not NEARLY as stiff of a ride as
makes it out to seem. If you've driven a sportscar before, you'll be fine!
- You can really hear (and feel!) the turbo when it kicks in
Absolutely!!!
It's FRICKEN ADDICTIVE as hell. I think we may need to start a Turbo Addicts Anonymous.
The rest is pretty much standard stuff I agree with. I'm loving the car and have 312 miles on it now.

Just as a clarification, you should use distilled water so you don't get a buildup inside the system.

if the temperature is cold enough to be below freezing of water then there would be no purpose of spraying an already cold intercooler
. The air alone would be a cooling agent. About regular water-- there will be no damage to the sprayer system if regular tap water is used. This is not some high-tech system, its basically another windshield washer set-up. As far as windshield washer fluid is concerned, most fluids will leave a blue deposit if sprayed after some use. So expect to see your intercoolers to have some bluish traces eventually

I think the point is that if it freezes in the reservoir there's a risk of it bursting it open? Dunno about regular tap water - round here it is very hard and tends to leave limescale deposits on stuff like showers and coffee makers. I'd go more towards distilled myself.
hey
you might try some alcohol mixed in with the water. it will lower the freezing point, and also lower the temp on the IC. been used in rally and perf. cars for a while. there are other mixtures you can use, but washer fluid is proly the best. it already has the alcohol in it, and also some cleansers to keep it clean
