Break In First, Mods Second??? Or does it matter?

I don't put a whole lot of miles on my car, but I should be thru with the break in period in another month or so. (I know, some of you don't believe in the break in period, but I'm doing it).

Anyway, should I complete the break in before I do any mods, or would it be ok to do some minor stuff before break in is complete? I'm talking minor minor stuff. I just don't want to upset the beast.

For example, I should have my K&N in a couple days, should I just throw it in? Not like it's adding 30 HP or anything.

I would continue w/ the break in. I don't see a K&N drop-in hurting the car though.

if it si the drop-in you should be fine, You really wont notice much improvement if any from the filter....once you get an intake system and get it tuned, then you will notice the difference. I would look into Al, from Dynoflash and get a mail in flash when you get a couple of "basic" mods complete..

Just the sound that comes with changing the quiet stock intake is unreal...

Yes, it's just the drop in filter.

That's because of the tune, not the intake. You would feel the same difference with a tune on the stock intake...

I've got to get to work somehow, may as well do it in a fun car. I only live 3 miles from my office, so I just don't rack up many miles during the week. I do my fun driving on the weekends.

wait until youre at least through the break in to mod it. personally im waiting a couple thousand miles just to make sure nothing is wrong.im sure it cant hurt to mod it immediately but if youre only driving a few miles everyday to begin with why even bother at all?

I know when we got our 05 car with less than 100 miles on it, before it hit 1k we had every bolt on except cams and a boost controller. After the 1000k mile mark we went all out. the car still only has 2500 miles on it and has everything short of a larger turbo and built short block (coming soon).

Well, I think I should just try and be patient.

I'll wait until after the first 1000, then get the oil changed, and then have a ball!

I had a boost controller,TBE, and intake at about 700 miles.....but i did NOT drive the car hard by any means, then i hit 1000 miles, changed my oil and gave the nuts. It will not hurt the car.
