Highway Drivin

Today is my first time that I've spent any considerable amount of time on the highway without traffic. What a blast!

It's amazing how going 60 in 5th gear, you can just give it some gas without downshifting and you're at 85 in no time. It just spools up and goes...I'm enjoying the heck out of my first turbo car!!!

If I'm at 60 in top gear, I can't even outrun a base model civic without downshifting or brake boosting. I don't think you accelerate to 85 as fast as you really think you do...

I guess have a long 6th gear isn't all that gr8 after all!! It is pretty quick actually, I'd imagine in the MR it wouldn't be as dramatic since you're probably running around at 2k rpm in 6th gear going 60mph . . . .for those of us with 5 gears, it's like close to 3krpm, so it spools pretty fast. . .at least that's what I've noticed as well. . .maybe we just have exceptionally fast '05's????

My 04 won't accelerate hardly at all in 5th gear. And this is at 22.5 psi of boost.

really? I guess the 10.5 hotside helps. . .I'm dead serious, it accelerates hard in 5th, I've made my girlfriends **** in their pants on the highway, gunning from 60-110 in a flash. . .

There isn't much difference in the top gears of the old and new evos. 60mph for both types of evos in top gear revs about the same rpm. Only difference is that the 6 gear evo has another gear below it (which is like the 5 gear evo putting another gear between 4th and 5th gear).

i have passed plenty of people on the highway without downshifting out of 5th. its not as strong as a 2nd or 3rd gear pull but there is still enough power to get er done.

actually, I'm going to have to correct myself. . .I went to get some take out for dinner tonight, and I'm sadly mistaken. . . 5th gear, 60mph, is 2.5-2.8k. . .it is slighly sluggish to get to 85. . .now what I MEANT to say is that from 80, where in 5th gear it's about 3.2-3.5k, it's a bloody rush to get to 110+. . .so, I corrected myself, and am heartily confirming my newbie status, despite having put on nearly 2100 miles in eactly 30 days of owning this car. . .
