license plate question

is it unsafe to mount the license plate on the grill in front of the intercooler?

will it somehow disrupt the airflow to the engine?

It will disrupt airflow to the intercooler. That would not be a good mounting option. If your state requires a front plate the stock offset location is best.

it would look even worse there than in the offset location imo and it would screw with the airflow

Just use the bracket that came with the car, mine was in the trunk in the compartment on the left.

Hey Pauly, how do you like your Greddy Profec B II? Is it doing you any good? How did you have it installed? By shop or by yourself? Thanks~~

Go without the front plate, but keep in mind it is required in most states. Don't be surprised if you get pulled over. However I don't recomend putting in the front windshield, that is still not legal and also draws attention that you don't have it properly mounted.

It is NOT unsafe but is going to hurt your performance and cooling.

My car didn't even come with the brackets when I bought it. After getting numerous parking tickets with the "no front license plate" citation, I decided to go to Mitsu and have them install it for me. The Mitsu dude was like, where's yours? I said my dealer didn't give me one, he said you gotta pay for it. So after waiting for about an hour to install, I gave the guy the biggest smile and he said no charge . Pays to be a girl who "doesn't know anything about her car." I would rather have the plate off but I can't afford any more $25 tickets.

Oh yeah and the dude said that I couldn't put the license plate at the center because it'll block the intercooler. So that answers your question?

I don't have one on the front of my Talon and got one warning (because the cop wanted to pull me over at 3:00am) and the other time I already got a speeding ticket... all he said was something like, "Oh, and you'll need to put that plate on the front of your car."

I really don't want to drill holes in my new car

I used to leave my plate in my backseat of my Si until i got pulled over by a cop. Took my license and had to go to court to have the ticket dropped which happend to be 3 months later. Front plate has been on my Si since and is on the evo as well. I don't want to give the police any reason to pull me over, it's just not worth it.
