I was trying to install the kartboy shifter base bushing today, and they didn't fit into the plastic base. The smaller part of the bushing is supposed to fit in the hole right? It wouldn't fit no matter how hard I tried to make it. Maybe the place I ordered from sent the wrong ones? Anyone else have fitment issues? help please.

 

same thing happened to me. i just put the bolt through and tightened them and they're fine.

 

is this common occurance? I just ordered mine I hope not...

 

mine fit perfectly. just had to put a little a$$ into it

 

i have read about that problem before, thats why i didnt buy kartboy

but trying using a dremel to get them to fit

 

that should make them fit.

 

what is a dremal? I would think the fit should be perfect if its supposed to make the shifting more accurate and easy right?

 

I put the bolt through, hoping it would force it in, but it didnt. I tightened it almost as tight as I could, then took it back out to check. I could see the crease lines around the bushing. I got a razor blade, and cut a little off the edge, hoping is would let the bushing slip into place. Still no luck. so I put the stockers back, and put the center console back together. It crossed my mind to just tighten and leave it, because it felt very sturdy when I did, but I'd like to see how many people have had this issue, and what they did.

 

sandpaper then?

 

its a common issue. Just round out the holes on the base of the shifter with a razor blade, pocket knife, or blade.

 

Mine installed fine, with no problems at all, shifter is perfect now except when its really hot outside, then you better drive with an oven mit. Cartboy is top notch in my book

 

I got the speed-source bushings and they fit perfectly.

I bought a set too and they didn't fit. They know of the problem and and basically said that mitsubishi's tolerances in construction varies (bull****). I ended up getting a B&M shifter kit with aluminum bushings and fit perfect. I think speed-source.net would suit you fine if you decide on just upgrading the bushings.

In Kartboys defense, they took them back graciously for a full refund.. They also offered advice to sandpaper, dremel etc...if I wanted to keep them.

 

Wow if mine dont fit im sending them back is this a problem with the ones in the engine bay as well? or just inside the car?
