You obviously don't have a mortgage payment.

Honestly, the SRT4 is pretty hard to beat in terms of performance for the money...might be a good option. Save the EVO for later.

That's because you live at home. Not much worse than freeloaders who drive $30k cars without paying for their own shelter...

I say live in the now. If you can afford the Evo now, get it now. You never know what can happen down the road in life. Better get the Evo and have fun now. Don't get the SRT-4. They are great if you plan on racing from a roll all the time. But if you ever wanna take a hard corner or actually "drag" race, FWD is not the best option.

I think I'am gonna go with an Used Evo and Insurance wise It will be on my dad but I will drive It...(Almost 4 years of driving never came close to a reck or accident!!! ) yeah thats pretty much It there, Is there anything I should look forward In an 03/04 model ? I found an 03 Apex Silver with: I believe HKS Cat Back, Lowered, Tinted Windows and It has a Boost Gauge sitting on the steering wheel ; $24,000 with 26,000miles ? I drove It seems pretty fine, very smooth and In the corners It was very secure. What you guys think about the price ? http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...rdist=3#vdptop

i feel you on wanting to buy an evo. but i cant afford that so i got the ralliart. look for an evo in the classifieds on this site.. im sure you will find something in your price range. then take a loan, and go and pick the car up. but dont dig yourself in a whole.. go with something fairly cheap..

also, if you plan on going with something cheap, make sure it atleast has low miles.. so when you do decide to trade it in for an evo, you get a good chunk of change back on a trade in... i make a little bit more than you do at 21, and after paying for my high car payment, and high insurance, i realize i made a mistake. i love the car, but, i wish i wouldve went with something cheaper so ic can save $ for a house

Don't pay more than 21k for an 03. You can get brand new 05s for 28-29k, so it would be a big mistake to spend 5k less on a car that is now 3 years old, that has 26k miles (will need new clutch, new brakes, new tires), and that has mods (don't pay for his mods, and be very worried about abuse or poor installations). There are good used Evos out there to buy, but they are very few and far between...be very careful.

As for the insurance, if you buy an Evo and make your dad the primary driver, then go out and get in an accident (your fault or not), then your insurance company may find out that you are really the primary driver, and the result of that is catastrophic for both you and your dad for future insurance coverage. You should not buy an evo if you can't afford the payments, YOUR OWN INSURANCE, the maintenance, the gas, and your own shelter, food, and bills...

For all who think the competition is competition for the SRT-4 you are mistaken, there is NO car that will compete with it in fun factor, or value. Sure the SRT-4 is a neon but that is like saying the EVO is a Lancer, or the STi is an Impreza, or the GTO of its day was a Tempest... the list goes on and on. The SRT-4 can put put into high 13's with a good driver and you can make close to 300whp, yes WHP with under $2,000. I love the Evolution and by all means it is in every way a better all around car but bang for buck you can't beat an SRT-4. Stock for stock on from a roll an SRT-4 can hang with any EVO or any STi, a dig is another story but top end... drive an SRT-4 and then drive an RSX Type S... you will see the RSX as a boring gutless car, as will you feel the same way with an Ion Redline, the car is all plastic and the same with a Cobalt SS, I have seen the cars at the track and none in stock form have broken 15's. I myself have driven an EVO MR, 04 STi, 05 STi and 06 STi, E36 M3, C55 AMG, C5, LS1 F-Body, LT-1's, G35 Coupe 6spd, 4g Eclipse GT, 05 Mustang GT... the list goes on, an SRT-4 is faster than a G35, 350z, any Eclipse... as far as the others on the list ya know there faster but whatever. Mod for mod there is no better feeling than whooping *** in an underdog and the SRT-4 can do it for you... for all who preech about build quality and refinement... who gives a **** it just makes the victory even sweeter. This is your last chance to own a car that may be very hard to rematch in value in future years... it is also a car that is not worth buying used, nor smart.
