Question I Need To Make Decision...

Hi...everybody I'am new to these Fourms I've been reading about The Evo for a while now but I have a decision I have to make ...I'am In the process of buying an 05 SRT-4 (New) but I'am really not sure about It I mean It's nice but still there is something thats just telling me not to go that route. Anyways I own a 00 Eclipse Gs and I Love , my dads & my credit are are Okay but the end of the year Is coming up and If I would buy It I would have to pay sales tax and then next year pay personal proprety tax for the car and the way I look at It If I wait til Feb. next year after taxes I would save some money so I kinda think Its not worth to buy the SRT-4 I'am putting down $3grand on It, I'll end up paying $17,392 kinda cheap & It's the last year of production...well my dad was saying all kinda crap about the SRT-4 how Its a neon and It won't last long and **** like that by the way (3year, 36,000 miles warrenty) I really think thats BS, so as I was saying my dad said why not wait til taxes time and buy an 05/06 (new or used) Lancer Evolution and that really brought me here so now I really don't know what to do any adive would help remember I'am 19 I only make $14 an hour and I work fulltime (40hrs) a week so put yourself In my position and tell me what you guys what do!!! I LOVE

Well most everyone here will pick the evo over the srt-4 every time. If you have to go new, crunch the numbers to make sure you can afford it. I'm assuming insurance will really suck for you. Get a quote and factor that in.

we need to think logically here, you are in the same position i was in this past summer. Bottomline...you cant afford EITHER CAR, because while you can afford payments on both these cars, you cannot afford maintenance. The evo, and probably the srt-4 to some degree are high maintence cars that require alot of money each year to maintain, if youre making 14 bucks an hour, you wont be able to cut it, i wanted a fast car and i love the evo myself, but sometimes bro, you gotta take what life gives you, bite the bullet and make the smart move, dont buy either car, youre only 19, youre probably going to college, having either car will be a pain in college (haters, scratches, dingers, etc) and with gas prices youll regret your decision. Plus since youre only 19, lets face it, youll drive hard, want to modify, and create a money pitt for yourself, its just not a wise decision either way, save your money, buy a reliable daily driver car, i suggest a scion tc for 17k (you cant beat toyota build quality, and its a beatiful car), and down the road when your finances are straight, then go after a high performance car. Its hard to swallow, but you gotta think long term here

Id say most of your points were valid until you reccomended the scion tc.

why dont you get like a used 2004 srt-4 with like 15k miles for like 16k...thats seems like a good alternative if you really want the car now...my friend has an 03 srt and drives the **** out of it and hes got 30k miles and its running strong.

at 19, if you want new, get the scion. if you don't mind used, get the srt-4 but make sure its in good condition first. i'm sorry to say you can't afford the evo. i can say that because i make 45K/year and i'm already thinking i bit off a bit more than i can chew. time will tell...

Buy a used INTEGRA, spend 1-2g's on it, it will satisfy you, while you same for the EVO.

I agree with i11maticc about not wanting a car like that in college. Save your money for regular "college fun" and buy a nice used Civic SI or something along those lines. Save the Evo until you get out of college. I wanted a new car like mad when I was in college, but I'm so glad I never got one.

You got plenty of time, no need to rush into things now and tie yourself into dropping every last cent paying to own and maintain a car.

On a side note, I had never really calculated my salary into an hourly wage before....not too damn bad!

get a car that you afford at this moment and not the one youll be struggling with. If your struggling with the payments youll be unhappy with the car youll think its not worth it i promise.

Dude unfortunately we can't always get what we want.....at your age just focus on school and get a good job and everything will fall into place after that. Trust me...I was in your shoes too but now I have a good job and an Evo too.

If you can pick up an evo, why not go for it? As long as you are financially able, which you obviously beleive you are or you wouldnt be asking as for opinion in the first place. Get what you want.

I only make $14 an hour and I work fulltime
Man 19 and making that much, you lucky SOB.

I don't make THAT much more then that (within 5 bucks of that) and I afford my house, both cars, all expenses, a wife and 2 kids.

I mean, i work some overtime, but damn if I were in your shoes I would have the most modified evo on the block =p

What about a saturn Ion redline or RSX type S? The reason i mention this is because the insurance is pretty crazy on the evo for me at least

You should also consider if going used..

Honda S2000.
Porsche Boxer.
Audi S4
E36 M3

Your still young so get the boxter and pick up some chicks
