I4 = 12.237

ET = 14.760 @91.991

this was at LACR in palmdale....i was launching at 4500 anhd just dumping the clutch..i dont have a boost leak cuz im hittin full boost and im shifting at 7300.....what do i need to do to get quicker times..thanx ppl...
maybe shift faster and get a faster 60 foot...there were sti's and another evo runnin the same times..in the mid 14s...i know palmdale runs slow ttimes...but wanted to see if you guys could tell from the slip what i coul improve in?

Drag Racing forum...

Palmdale is slow. You just need to launch better. 4500 is too low for any launch. It's not high enough for a slipped launch, much less a dump. If you are dumping at 4500, the car is going nowhere. Don't dump! Launch at no less than 5500...

Probably not 13s unless your shifting improves drastically. You can only drop the 60' by .3s, so I wouldn't expect the 1/4 to drop more than .6, so maybe a 14.1 at best for now...

Yeah dude no need to dump the clutch. a very fast slip and launching between 5500-6000 will net you 1.7x-1.8x 60's.

LACR is a tough one. I tend to boost less when I race there. I would launch at 5500 RPM and also shift between 7000 to 7300 RPM. I was there last Friday and managed to cut a couple of 1.7 60's. The best I've been able to pull off there has been a 13.30@100MPH. It's tough to get a good trap speed at that track. Just keep practicing. You might want to check out the Street Legal Drags at Fontana this next Saturday. You'll have a better chance at running some faster times.

I have been to palmdale many times, fastest stock evo I have seen 13.7, fastest I have heard of 13.4, fastest stock sti I have seen there 13.7. My car vishnu stage 1++ with exedy twin ran 12.4 at 110 a month ago at palmdale. My advice is your launch needs to be 1.7xx 60ft on the stock clutch I recommend 6-6500 as soon as the car moves dump it and hold on. Peace.

Wow how palmdale stays in business just amazes me, it has to be one of the slowest tracks in the country, not just because of the elevation, but weather, and track preps, it's freakin' horrible. Still your times are slow even for palmdale, your times will improve with better 60fts and your mph should also improve with better launches and better shifting. Also go to California Speedway on the 24th, to see what your running there, I'm interested to see what your trap speed is there, your EVO could be down on power for some reason. If your only trapping at 95-96mph at Cal Speedway, then there may be something wrong with the car or your EVO is just not making the same power stock as others EVOs. But for now, don't sweat your times from palmdale too much, it's a really horrible track, palmdale IMO is only good for practice, see what you run at Cal Speedway and then go from there.

Those are some nice times, especially that trap speed for LACR. Are you having lower boost pressures at LACR with your Xede? My Xede boosts lower at that track.

Your trap speed is very low even with that 60ft time of yours. It must have been humid/hot and high altitude. Anyways, hold at 4500 rpm. When second amber light comes one floor the throttle and release the clutch. Remember the only time you let off the gas is after the 1/4mi. The flat shift will ensure a faster shift and good time. That is what i did with my 03 and ran a 13.5

Please note that a failing clutch will = low trap and bad times.
