Paint question...

I have done a fair amount of detailing in my day...Does someone know what type of paint process is used on a red Evo? Even with a terry hand applicator and a foam polish (very mild) I can get red/pink on the pad even after very light application? Doesn't seem right? It isn't a one stage paint correct? Can I be rubbing through the clear that easy? Lemme know.

Michael

All evo's are single stage paint the clear you see is not a seperate coat but part of the color.
(compare it to nail polish just the color is shiny but in order to keep from chipping scratching you put on a layer or clear or top coat) **thats the broad in me.

Our paint sucks...doesn't matter what color...don't believe me...buff a small section of your car and look at the buff pad. The evo is one of the only cars on the market right now using single stage...cheap ****in mitsu...

Your paint will fade...BAD my friend has a red 03 that looks almost a dark pink it's terrible....my suggestion...take the time to wetsand and clear your car. (or take it to an auto body shop)

In my experince, the 05 EVO paint is better then MY04 WRX because after 4 weeks & 4k miles the WRX had 3-5 big chips and another 30-35 small miniscle chips and after 3 months and 9k mile on the EVO and there is only 1-2 little barly noticable chips on my Apex Silver GSR.

I was actully thinking bout starting a thread to mention that my 05 EVO paint was good cuz i heard that the 03-04 paint was bout the same quality as Subaru.
Does anybody know if they made the paint on the 05s better?
