Are you going to keep the tires?
Are you going to keep the tires?
I plan on using the car as a daily driver and live in the Northeast, so it will have to deal with snow sometimes. The more I read, the more I wonder how well these will work in the snow.
Is anyone else thinking of slapping some more general duty tires on? It is already getting into the spring, so I guess this is more a question of if you will get winter tires come winter '03.

I have used Bridgestone Blizzak LM-22's on the VII and they are the best tire out there for snow and ice. That would be my suggestion for a winter tire. The A046's are deadly in low mu conditions.
Here ya go Namele,,,, We got less than an inch today....Most of it was melted when i got up, but the parts that werent melted I had 0 traction, I just went sideways, and breaking,,,, lololol, exactly no grip you slide to a stop from 10 mph. I feel really sorry for anyone caught in any snow with these tires on them(stock)
Its a good thing winter is almost over and we can enjoy these tires for spring summer and fall before we put all-season tires on it for winter.

Also, you do not want 235/45-17 winter tires, either. They're just too wide. Maybe 205 or 215? I don't know what would fit, but you will want a tire that's a bit narrower for the snow/ice. The wheels can be cheap, too, as long as they have the correct offset.
Don't compromise with all seasons on a car like the Evo... you won't get nearly as much out of it. A/S tires are a jack-of-all-trades, master of none. In other words, you'll get okay performance and handling qualities and it'll kinda defeat the purpose of the Evo. Summer tires will give you max performance on dry roads & in rain while a dedicated set of winter tires will allow you to kick some serious rear in the snow.
Winter tires are a small investment for safety and fun in the snow. They'll last longer than 1 season, so your investment will be over several years, especially if you buy a set of winter wheels and keep them for good. It doesn't have to be extremely expensive.

Not too many will fit the STi Brembo's (I have them). I had to sell my Racing Hart CP-035's because they wouldn't fit over the huge brakes.
I think some of the Rota's may fit...but only some of them.

recommends you don't even use them in temps below 30 degrees). An extra set of wheels with dedicated snow tires (none of this "all-season" nonsense) is mandatory. Also, you have to use 17" rims. 16" or smaller will not fit.
