you can actually get away with:

this small metric set 1/4" drive from craftsman, and a good leatherman. that is what i keep in my car.
I also have a jack, drill, several electrical pliers, and a big socket set, and a torque wrench, and a dremel will be helpful.
invest in good tools and they will pay you back.
you will need the bigger socket set and an oil wrench to change your own oil.
don't forget flashlights, and that handy dandy magnetic pickup tool that has saved my knuckles and sanity several times.
also a digital camera to take pictures of things while you take them apart so you can "remember" how to put them back.

you can take apart the whole car with a 10mm, 12mm, 14mm, 17mm, phillips head screw driver, breaker bar, and a torque wrench

I can tell you a tool not to buy. The wheel bearing press the supposed to work without taking the tie rod apart. Spend a little extra and get a bottle Jack press. A good tool is the inner tie rod tool that looks like a u-clamp with a square hole for you drive. Wheel bearing retaining ring pliers, I have never been able to find one that will work on the inner notched ring.

Wow didn't notice the date, but since your here can you tell me what brand of snap ring pliers will work on a notched wheel bearing retaining ring?
Bolts seem to be real tight on Evo's so only 6 point sockets
Ahhhh another dredged up 10 yr old thread

I was talking about the wheel bearing retaining ring. It is an inner notched circlip. Where can you get the pliers to remove and insert that ring?
