Congrats on the Evo. I also bought an 05 Evo but kept my 95 Z28. The Evo is a faster car stock for stock, not much doubt about that. It handles better and has much better brakes. The Evo is quicker, although I don't think it has better top end acceleration. Honestly, I think the Evo is a little weak up top, say over 100 mph

And, the Z28 had a better ride in stock form. The Evo is pretty harsh by comparison. I have modded the Z28 into a track car and it's not street legal anymore. I drive the Evo almost daily - 8400 miles in 9 months.

All in all , I'd say that 10 years has resulted in some significant progress performance wise, although I did pay a third more $$ for the Evo.

Oh yeah, I have pounded the Z28 on the race track and it has been bullet proof from a reliability standpoint.

I agree a ton on top end my LS1 was a beast up top also yes the ride is a tad harsh but I love it. I think the EVO feels the road alot better. Also, my ls1 was moderately modded but very street legal. I traded it in with all my mods which I probably shouldnt have done oh well. My cars best was a 11.5 with stock heads and a 02 Z06 cam plus all the bolt ons.

What dealer in Chicago lectured you on not modding your car? Im curious, as my dealer seems willing to look the other way when it comes to the small stuff. (Suspension, exhaust, turbo timer, etc.)

congrats on the purchase, keep your stock parts handy in case you need to go to dealer for something under warranty, things like intake and exhaust can easily be switched back.

I dunno about 05s, but my 03 there is a button near where the 05 ACD button is, they may have replaced them in 05.

I talked to the sales manager about an 05 and we were discussing the SSL package. I told him i didn't care about a sun roof, or leather...but wanted the HIDs. he said, the EVO without SSL has HIDs as well....i had to correct him, and he still didn't believe.

He had someone go out and check, then called me back to tell me i was right.

Another story: before i bought my evo, i called a dealership about getting a new one(just before the 05 came out). He said they had 1 03 left on the lot. I said, so you don't have any 04s...he said, why don't you people understand this is a limited production car...they only sent em here in 03. I said, oh, so you aren't getting 05s either....he said, "did you hear what i said?" "they only sent them here in 03".

I commensed to telling him he was a f*cking idiot, and had no business selling cars. I said, let me speak to the sales manager...he said, I AM THE SALES MANAGER.

I had to laugh, then fax him over things that other mitsu dealerships were getting and tell him that apparently his dealership sucks so bad mitsu doesn't wanna send them any new EVOs.

Anyway, enough rant!
