Here is something you may want to think about.

Not sure if anyone has brought this up yet..., but stock boost gauges are notorious for being the biggest pieces of ****. Really worthless, more for show, inaccurate etc. The mitsu addon looks like a reg stock boost gauge to me. Although I can't say for sure I'm pretty certain you would not want to use it for any aftermarket tuning.

Sure does look nice on the peg board tho *grunts*

I'm not sure what kind of racing you do, but if you go to a road circuit and do lap after lap for minutes on end, you DO want to have an EGT handy on a turbo car. The EGT can tell you instantly if something is wrong, much faster than an oil pressure, oil temp, water temp or any other gauge including safety buzzers. Granted, an EGT will not indicate that there is a problem with everything under the hood, but the EGT is very sensitive to changes and registeres them very quickly for a lot of different major problems, mainly related to the critical items such as fuel mixture.

If you drag race, auto-x or even Solo II, then yeah, the time period is too short to concentrate on gauges, but if you WOT, brake, WOT, brake, WOT, brake for over 30 mins or more at a time, the EGT is your best buddy!!!!

On my car, the EGT will go in before a boost gauge will.

True.. I really can't disagree.. I just have everything that would need my attention configured to trigger a light so I can check it out.. If you havent noticed, my car is pretty old-school.. but since its supercharged I do have to occasionally watch the mixture. I use an older EGT setup from Edelbrock which has lights in a small square unit.. I took the unit apart and have the lights mounted in the dash just above the boost gage, not directly in my line of sight, but in that same area so it will catch my peripheral vision.

And yeah, most factory gages are crap.. Their indicators of average.. But far from accurate on most cars.. but for day-to-day driving.. Their fine.. and you really don't need a boost gage for every day driving.. it just looks cool to see it sweep from vacuum into pressure..

Malibujack,

First of all very nice looking Malibu! I agree that it is personal preference. However a turbocharged engine runs much hotter that a supercharged setup and engine exhaust gas is an important parameter for me. Whether it is a long expressway drive or a 1/4 mile pass, EGT gives me an instant look at how the engine is performing. I also will add an EGT gauge.

Wanna Race? Have fun!!

I might be interested in the gages.. I'm more curious about whats "inside the box" though.. If its just a wiring harness from the gages to a connector in the dash, I'd definitely be interested in them. If their just cheap gages with an instruction sheet how to splice into a zillion connectors, then I'll pick up a set of Autometer or VDO gages (yes, I know I'm old school)

Just so you all know.. VDO is who manufactures MANY of the OE Gage clusters.. Its entirely possible their Cockpit series of gages has the right 'reddish' color..

This appears to be the manufacturer and model of the OE Gage pack..

I had ordered the factory sports meter kit. The dealer got it down to $368.......After one day with the evo, I noticed that is the only cubby hole for stuff. I cancelled the order.

Plus it is kind of low to view.

I planned on ordering the sports gage kit.. I am going to ask the dealer to relocate the radio down into the cubbyhole and put the gages where the radio was.
