Just got my 05 MR!! (couple q's)
I just wanted to say I just picked up my 05 MR that I had shipped in, and it's freakin amazing! I got it with 12k miles and it looks almost like it just rolled off the factory floor. This car has truly impressed me so far, I can't wait to give it some track time once I'm more familiar with it.
A couple things I've noticed driving around, I just want to be sure it's fairly normal. It seems when I shift quickly through the gears I hear a sort of "thunk" coming from the rear of the car. I'm assuming this is just drivetrain lash being picked up when the rears get engaged, but wanted to check with some of you guys to be sure?
Also, sometimes when I go to shift it's almost as if the shifter wants to jump into the next gear on its own. It's kinda cool, I just wasn't expecting that. I've driven a stick Trans Am for 6 years, so i'm pretty familiar with manuals in general, I just wanted to see if anyone had noticed this before too? I do have an exedy twin if that makes a difference.
Overall though, this car is amazing, goes into gear everytime no problem, and pulls pretty hard once the turbo gets spooling, but nothing is as impressive as the chassis - totally confidence inspiring - beautiful! Evo's really are kicka$$!

No, it's not, unless he changed his name on the board. The owner is a board member and a nice guy though. He's already given me some advice on the car, which is wonderful; that's exactly what the internet community should be all about!
congrats...
...the weighted shifter makes helps it slide into gear...it's normal on the MR
...i would invest in a new clutch very shortly...not because of your driving...but because of you not knowing 100% how the previous owner drove...
