Most Sunoco's outside Philly have race quality gas, I think they use red handles for it...

I would never use octane booster in my car. You're better off getting a 5 gallon tub of VIP Race fuel and mixing in a little every now and then. Octane Booster over extended use corrodes and builds up deposits in your fuel system.

Wouldn't you have to add 1 gallon of 100 octane fuel for every 2 gallons of 91 octane, to end up with 93 octane fuel? It's still a very spendy proposition!

SC~ whos glad he can get 94 octane from the stations around here.

I'm surprised you can even get 91 there. At higher elevations they usually sell lower octane gas. When I went on a road trip through the southwest it was not uncommon to find 85, 87, 89 at the stations in higher elevations (like Vail for instance).

I didn't know that. Thanks. Well, in Germany we get 98 RON I believe. I'll have to check at Nurburgring for race gas. I'm sure they have it, but as gas cost on the economy around $4 per gallon for regular, I can only imagine how much race gas would run!!

Airplane fuel..if its not a gasoline type, but actually JP8 or JP4 probably wont work. Those fuels have a different flas point that petrol gasoline.

Anyone know differently?

Having an empty tank and running 100 octane won't harm the car at all. If it's leaded fuel it will damage the catalytic converter. You should only use leaded fuel if you're running a straight pipe. They sell 103 octane unleaded race fuel which works great. I usually burn all of my regular gas and put in 103 for the drag strip or track. Makes a difference. As for jet fuel it's usually around 107-114 rating if I remember. BUT it has different additives in it. I believe using jet fuel falls under the same guidelines as leaded fuel but I may be wrong. I've heard of people using it before so who knows.

Do some more research before you decide about octane boosters. I know a lot of DSMers who run Xylene mixtures with no problems. It's used as an additive at some gas stations anyways.
