turbo lag on 05's
turbo lag on 05's
ok i traded my 04 in for a 05 it seems like the 05 has a little bit more lag? like in my 04 if i would let the rpm's sit around 3000rpm and punched it the car would take right off with no lag whats so ever! now with the 05 same spot 3000rpm's the car will lag for 1 second then take off! overall i can tell that the 05 has more turbo lag is this because of the 10.5 hotside or the remaped ecu
plus my 04 use to spool at lower rpm's like anywhere from 2500rpm's and up depending on if i pressed the gas all the way down! it was not making much boost but it helped a little bit! now with my 05 it does not make any boost untill i pass 2900 know matter how hard i press the gas! and it seems like the sweat is at 4000rpm's not like my 04 where it was at 3500rpm's! i have to say that the top end is much better!
can anybody tell me something i don't know

well ill agree with that..i have never driven an 03-04 model, but i have the 05. and yes, you wont feel any power untill 3300 rpm, but once you hit that BAM. your off. id say its weakest point is aroud 5200 rpm i feel the car a tad slower but then picks up again after about 5700 rpm. but that's just me

Well I have driven the 03, 04 and 05 and yes the 05 has a bit more but nothing too much to notice. I would say no more than 100RPM on some spots.
Did you have any mods on your 04? if so that might helped your spool so you come from a hooked up car to a stock car. Remember cams and exhaust alone will improve your spool for over than 500RPM
You might have a boost leak on the 05 car (small boost leak) most of new EVOs have their IC pipes not tight enough especially around the BOV. Check that out.
