probably not, but why do you people have such a hard time believing that a leaky (not to mention PLASTIC) bov, robs power?

hell, go unplug a hose to it... you'll get the idea

I don't have a hard time believing it. Hell, after I was dyno'd with the stock BOV and threw on a GFB BOV, my boost increased by at least a few lbs.

I just reread what he initially said, I was thought that he was saying it gave him more power than his previous set up with no boost leaks.

Anyway.. whatever. That's great that the IXs come with the metal BOV, but I don't believe that's the cause for the higher horsepower rating. I'm sure that comes from the larger turbo, MIVEC and the tune.

i agree with the power jump thing. Mitsu doesn't intentionally build them leaky, they just do

It'll be nice to see if the IX's are as pig rich stock.

as much as so many people on here are anti-mitsu, it's not the intent. I question the use of plastic, but eh, plastic IS cheaper than metal, and i can totally agree about them being cheap.

That was the first thing I noticed when I was checking out the 3 IX's that our local dealer has.

anyone got a PN for it then? I hate having to explain to them this is the BOV for the IX not the VIII, when they don't even know the IX is coming out dealership are stupid, they don't know what they're selling.

nevertheless, I'm just comparing prices, b/c I'm ready to purchase. I know you can pick one up for around $110 now, and I heard Z1 was once selling them for $90 at one point.

unfortunately no, the dyno with the Bov was actually hotter in temp inside the bay than the stock dyno. It was on the same dyno though so there is a bit of control. I have posted both dynos they are in my registry entry.

No, no. I wasn't suggesting that neither you nor I are anti-Mitsu, I just think it might be a design to keep boost levels down to a certain level for warranty or durability measures. Unowned said it was worth a power gain from him probably because it held boost better, then leaking it away. 2G DSM BOV"s are the same way, only worse, but the car still comes from the factory at a higher boost setting then the 1G's did that had superior BOV's (and turbos for that matter.) Cost probably has something to do with it too.

its not a power increase you felt but better engine response when you get on the gas because the metal one doesnt leak or starts to leak at higher boost. i have a forge bov and after i installed that the car felt much better.

they still do not have (as of yet) a part number for the bov on CAPS because the cars havent officially come in yet in their system. give it a few months.
