05 GSR non-SSL halogen -> OEM HIDs

Well, I like how everyone said that it was impossible.

I'm currently running them with all the OEM ballasts, bulbs and of course, the HID projector housings.

The fogs haven't been wired up yet, and I don't plan to wire up the autoleveler.

here's the 8 pin HID harness. we don't need the autoleveler, or the fogs, or any of that fancy gizmo ****.

The ballast with 2 wires. black/red is ground, black/white is power. DO NOT MISTAKE THIS, i blew 2 fuses and nearly fried the wiring because i accidentally reversed this.

The HALOGEN wiring to the 9006 bulbs is black is ground black/white is power. don't get them confused.

See? All the wiring is very similar. All you need to do is splice 2 wires and you've got OEM HIDs.

Halfway done

HID hasn't been adjusted yet.

That shot is crap since it's too close to the wall. give it a few feet and it'll even out nicely.

adjust your HIDs folks!

oh yeah, and for those who say running OEM HIDs is too expensive, i got mine for 300 for the entire thing. NO, IT'S NOT A KIT. =)

i dont get it. so are you saying you had bought the HID units only and mounted them on your non-HID 05? please explain. are these just instructions on how to wire an OEM HID system onto a car that didnt come with them originally?

in any case, props for the effort

20A Fuses need to be upgraded
Modified my stock Halogen harness to be plug and play
Took the HID ballasts and wiring plug (see picture above), not entire 8pin harness
Ran HID headlight housings and projectors (for beam pattern/cutoff)
HID bulbs

That easy. Hardest part was taking off the bumper since I had to jack up the car.

Bought it off a guy who wrecked his evo.

Hardest part was adjusting the beam. Mine started too low, but it's pretty easy. Thanks to my friend Esteban who helped me adjust the HID. He also retrofitted s2k projectors into his car.

HID beams can go too high or too low. mine initially was too low. you can do the pole test to figure out if you need to adjust higher or lower.

Macky,

I'm thinking it's the camera settings.
