Question Word on Intake

Ok i have been searching and researching on the different types of filters and drop- in filters since the 2nd day i have had my car. Why is it that some people say that cone (cold air intakes) are better then drop in filters and some people say that the drop in is better? does anyone have any proof like dyno charts? or are people just going by what they feel when they drive the car? ive seen that people have said that you dont need the filter but then get a fuel pump.. ive read that the stock intakes are good for providing up to 300hp+ same for the fuel pump. does anyone have any proof that the drop ins(k&n,works) are better then the cone filters (aem, hks)!?

Depends on what your going for. The stock box is adequate, and you should also consider keeping the stock box if you plan on doing a turbo upgrade as the kit will probably come with some sort of intake. If your going for the most power on your stock turbo, then a new intake might become useful to you.

This had been covered lots b4. The stock intake is good for up to 400HP so I hear. Add a K&N or Works drop in.

The problem with aftermarket intakes is that they change the airflow and mess up the MAF sensor which works on vortices. This can lead to your car running rich or lean. You should really get a tune if u get the intake, again this is what I have heard.

bigfish is right. i have an hks rs intake on my 03 Evo and i had a lot of stalling and sputtering issues and also it felt as if the intake took away from my power, now that im tuned it runs great and definitely helps in the higher rpms. but yea i would just leave the stock airbox on there, i would have done that but when i got my intake i didnt read up on how it affected the car, so i was stuck with it, but now that im tuned i couldnt be happier
