Over revving will usually kill your head stuff first, valves no longer track with the cam and can collide with the pistons, causing bent valves. If that had happened, you would know. If it runs fine, then don't worry about it.

My buddy's brother did that to his Integra with a type-r set up only he didn't have a rev limiter and he saw a little over 10k rpms on his monster tach. He ended up having a couple of bent valves and his car had a funny idle afterwards. I would think your motor should be ok since it probably would've bounced off the rev limiter til you changed gears or pushed in the clutch. How does it run and idle? There was a video of these two kids trying to get away from some people and he jammed into 2nd at the top of 3rd and lost control of the car and crashed into some bushes or something. His head unit came flying out and landed in the center. I think it's still up if I'm not mistaken. Good thing nothing like that happend to you guys. What's the top of 3rd in a Evo? Like 110mph or something? I'll try on my way home from work

Dave

You can either bend valves, etc..... or if you rev high enough your bearings can spin from lack of luberication........ My friend did that in a 1995 GSX and spun 2 rod bearings....... Good luck

they worst that would have happened is you would have bounced off the revlimiter. you should be Ok as long as the engine is running as it did before

unfortunately rev limiters can ONLY work when the engine is speeding up due to fuel input (i.e. your heavy *** foot) and not when you shift into a lower gear. In that case, the speed of the car & transmission gearing will shoot RPM's up to a rediculous number, causing the valve springs to be overworked and 'Float' (i.e. not uncompress in time) then you're pistons have a field day with them. If you had a case of Valve Float you would most definitely know, it would sound like a monkey f*cking a football with a tire iron in your motor.. If all sounds/runs well, dont worry about it
