how heavy is the fee for buyin a car out of state and registering it in another? what other steps are required at time of registration. im currently in WA and wanna buy car from CA and register it out here. Help me out

 

As far as I know, you just have to pay the sales tax in the state you are registering it in. And then with some other forms it doesnt cost much extra.

 

In CA, if you buy a car out of state it has to have 7500 miles in order to register at DMV. I bought a bike in OR (no sales tax) and had to use a friends address to register it in OR. Once I had 7500 miles I then took it to CA DMV and registerd it in CA. It was a pian in the A$$ when I got pulled over and I had a CA licence and an OR registerd bike. Anyways, I would never do that type of deal again.

I bought my Evo from Maryland and had it shiped up to NY. THis was through a dealer of course. I had no problems registering it.

 

I'm currently doing the same thing. Buying in Cali and live in MD. I'm finishing the paperwork this week. I'm actually not paying sales tax until i take it to DMV here in MD. One good thing is i don't have to have the tax and tag apart of my loan. Tax here in MD will be like 1300. Shipping across country is cheap. I have a quote, but will take about 2 wks.
