twin plate carbon clutch?

i got a 35r setup on a stock block, but doing a build in the off season. i'm currently running a act26 and it a pile of poo...my question is will a twin plate carbon hold 600+whp? if so how long for? i can't seem to find anyone who has a double carbon with over 550 whp for input. i don't wanna get a triple plate carbon unless it's totally nessesary$$$...i've done all the literary research and now i just want some hands on experience/knowledge....any advice would be helpful!

I would NOT buy any Exedy carbon clutch. I just replaced one with ONLY 2500 miles on a customers car with an RPS carbon carbon. The customer said it has slipped since his 1000 break in miles. I took it out and it was in shreds. I would go with a Tilton carbon or an RPS. RPS has fixed their rattling issue.

It is a nice clutch, the pedal effort is like stock with all the holding power you will ever need .

Ive had a Cusco twin disk carbon Ive used for 40k miles, hundreds of street and several quarter mile launches on it.....not a problem and very little significant signs of wears. Just my experiences, however.

correct me if im wrong but from my understanding is if your pushing close to 600whp any twin clutch isnt suitable. For that kind of power you should be using a triple clutch.

Torque is what makes the clutch slip, not horsepower. Honda B-Vtec making 1000whp w/ 250lbs of torque does not require the same clutch as 1000whp evos.

For those looking to get a carbon carbon clutch, only true carbon carbon clutch is Tilton. All the plates like the floater plates & the disc are 100% carbon unlike rps stuff where is a steel w/ carbon pads riveted on. That is typically the weak link where on some of the manufacture's carbon clutches, those carbon contact pads tend to rip off under heavy stress. Tilton weighs in @ around 12lbs total including the pressure plate, all the disc, flywheel, and the hardware bolts and the twin carbon holds 860lbs of torque. Too bad i can't say the same nice things for their price tags.

A triple plate clutch isn't ALWAYS necessary. There are plenty of twins that can handle a ton of power. When you are drag racing, the best clutch you can afford is usually the best idea, but think about this....TurboTrix has used the ACT 6 puck in their Evo with great success. Al Freidman uses the Exedy 3 plate carbon....I would assume its all a matter of preference...

I got the RPS brand new from Titan Motorsports for $2500. Good deal imo cuz one of my good friends is friends with them.
the pedal feel is great....the rattle u hear from other twins is hardly existent.

so far I'm happy but I havent really hammered it yet. I raced on weekend..did multiple launches one after the next (no cooling down time).

for what you are looking for I believe that the clutches to choose from would be the RPS, Tilton and the Exedy triple carbon. I highly doubt any would let you down.
