Full boost, What RPM ?

Just wanted to see at what rpm people are hittting full boost? i installed the AMS LICP and i am at around 3000k full boost, i .e 5th grear pull from 2000rpm i hit 20psi at 3000rpm. What is stock spool on the stock Evo. i am trying to achieve lowest rpm for full boost for track.

Most people use 3rd gear to measure boost, not 5th gear as you will hardly be in 5th gear. That is typical response for your mods. The more you make the motor breathe the faster spoolup you will have.

There's a lot more load in 5th, so that's not a good test for determining when your turbo spools. Go do it in 3rd. Typically, we hit full boost by 3500-3600. The LICP should increase spoolup, so you may be lower than that.

What kind of track are you referring to? Road course? Achieving full boost at lowest rpm is useless at the drag strip, but very useful on the road course...just wanted to verify which one you're referring to.

The lower the gear the higher the spool as the engine Revs faster than the spool some times. If you have a large turbo it may not completly spool till third. As some cars with high Hp will accerate though the gear before the turbo can completly catch up. Thats why i always measure spool in fifth on the highway.

Try a O2 housing to help with spool. Don't go get a large FMIC or UICP as there will be more volume to fill before full boost.

this is for a road course. i am actually getting a 02 and 10.5 to help the spool maybe a exhuast manifold, not a tubular but ported polished stock one.

a 10.5 will only give you top end it hurt your spool the "lag" will be offset with your O2 housing though so you won't see much change. If you really want a turbo that spools quick and hard get a TME 10.5 and take the 10.5 hotside off and sell or keep it and put your 9.8 hotside on it. i don't think its ever been done but it would spool very low and your tip in boost would be instant which would be amazing for road racing.

Mitsu sold the Evo VII RS-2 with that exact turbo from the factory. A 9.8t housing TI 16g. They can be had for around 500 if you look in the right place.
