Bought a couple cans of these for my EVO today!!

Well, I took the day off from work today and stopped by Home Depot and came across this.....

paid like $12.99/gal, but I know that its a bit more potent than Toluene.
I was in the paint section of HD and was surprised how much of this stuff they have on the shelves....

He plans on using this to increase the octane rating for his gas...but I've never head of anyone using this before for that application. Toulene yes...this stuff...no!

Octane booster. I used it once but didn't notice a difference. I was able to run a higher octane map and didn't seem to have any adverse effects.

octane booster. That stuff is like 120 octane.

Formula one gas is 1% pump gas additives and 99% toluene (^or that stuff)

It wil allow you to run a more agressive map and not get knock much like methanol injection.

Joining this thread to hear more views from other people if this is a good or bad attempt to raise the octane.

to all if you do a search for "toluene" you will find numerous threads about home brewed race gas. My friends and I have run several 55gal drums of the stuff mixed with super unleaded in rally cars for a couple of years with no ill effects. buying the drums, you can make 110 octane race gas for a total cost of about 4.50 a gallon (with today's gas prices).

10gal of 92 octane pump gas + 4 gal of toluene (or xylene) at 120 octane/gal = (1) 14 gal tank of fuel at 100 octane.

From: somewhere testing various tires, brakes, and suspensions.
Holy hazardous material - sorry I write env. permits. But is that such a great idea? That is a toxic substance and should be handled with extreme caution. Not to mention it is extremely flammable.

Do some research on that stuff:
http://hazard.com/msds/gn.cgi?query=...artial&start=0

Cost of a new engine - $4000
VP110 race gas - full tank ~ $60

Do the math is it really that bad to get the real suff?
