$20,000 markup!??!
$20,000 markup!??!
My local dealership in GLendale has a $19,000 markup and and a few other ones my friends have been to had a 20,000 markup.... that is sickly ridiculous... Has anyone urn into such a high and very unnegotiable markup yet??? Anaheim Mitsubishi sold an Evo for 23g over sticker.... damn.... thats sickk
It's nothing new... $23k is to me, though.
Smart for the dealer (in the end)... but the buyer was a dumba$$. For those astronomically marked-up cars at other dealers -- if they don't sell, then the dealer looks really bad.
OTOH, anything over MSRP +a couple thousand is high to me. I could live with that for a specialty car like the Evo.
Then again, anything over MSRP for any car is too high for the majority of people.

To put this in perspective figure the numbers.
MSRP 30000+23000 (Mark Up)=53,000
Drive it off the lot= -5,000=Value of 25,000.00
Difference=28,000
You could have also bought a WRX project car or get a kick **** STi with tuning when it arrives.
Yet some people have more dollars than sense (cents).

markup
Yea I was getting new tires on my VR-4 so I walked in to Santa Monica Mitsu and was like, "wow a 28K mark up, guess I wont buy an EVo here"
Anyway, after seeing they had a black EVO with no sunroof, I wanted to see how low they would go, so I drove back over with the 3000GT and we started talking numbers.......even went out for a test drive, man that car HANDLES!! Wasn't quite as quick as I would have thought but still!!
Before I walked the price sat at $35k which would break down to $13,000 for my trade in, $8k down, and then $435 a month which is at 5.9%
not a bad offer for a 20 year old still in school, but I also know that dealers in Orange County listing the Evo at a nice round 30K!
