Sponsorship?

I was just wondering if anyone had any experience or any suggestions on how to go about getting sponsorship? I have done alot of work to my car but there is still alot I would like to do but I am at the point to where I need assistance or at least would like it. I am planning on attending alot of car shows next year, as well as take my car to the drag strip more. I don't care about throwing decals or anything on my car for advertising. I am just trying to weigh my options. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Justin

just check out local shops around you, and see if you can work something out...or at least thats what I did and I am currently sponsored by the Mistubishi dealership in west palm beach Fl. They are giving me a 400$ check every month to have their name on my window! As well as with all the mod's I have done, they still cover my car under warranty! Just e-mail people, look around your area, and dont give up! Good luck!

The way it is actually should be done is you build a proposal. Send it to the company with all your info. Stating what you have done what you plan to do and how you will promote and benifit the company.

You cannot just email them and be like "My car is sick sponsor me I will be in 400 car shows and rep your sticker if you give me $2000 in parts". 99.9999% of the time they will send you a generic email back or not waste their time.

A sponsorship is a business proposition so you have to go about it very professionally. You have to realize that most companies will give there sponsorships to there dealers and not to the average joe. The most you will get unless your car is heavily modified and rare is a discount on parts.

Also if they the company is good they will require you to write a quartly report on how you are promoting the product and what shows and awards you have one.

Depending on what you are looking to be sponsored for, be the best there is to that field. Meaning if you want an engine sponsor, be the fastest car in the area/state. If you want the prettiest car, win all the big shows.

Sponsors will find you if you're worth it. People don't realize that sponsorships are designed to benefit the company, not get you cheap parts for you car. Furthermore, what people don't know, is once you get sponsored, you don't have total say in what goes on. If they want to try something, you're the car they'll try it on. If it blows up the motor, they'll send you a new one the next day, but you're obligated to start paying it off the instant they do. If you don't like these terms, they'll find someone that will.

Furthermore, it's your duty to stand up for the company, bring in sales, and make it to the events to get their name out.

I have to say you have to be at the right place on the right time. this has happen to me. Greddy sponsored me with all the bells and whistles. This company needed a car to test fit all there parts for the american market because the japanese market may differ slightly.

I recieved a 20g turbo with external tial waste gate, type r intercooler. all polished hard piping, 660 injectors, emanage/ emanage ultimate, down pipe and full exhaust. plus the tune, soon they will be testing a cast manafold and cams sometime in January,

Its great to get all these things free but the only downfall was they had my car for almost 4 months. I can not modify anything else until they are done with the car because they have there baseline dyno and they need the dyno figures for each upgrade to send back to Trust Japan. So basically I am locked not able to do anything.

For example I wanted to do a 2.3 stroker and I had to speak to them and they said not now because it will screw up there testing. I guess getting almost 10k of free stuff is worth about a year for them to do there testing.

My suggestion is call all of all the manufacturers that are local if they needed a car to test out there product and in return you get the first batch of product once it comes out. Good luck with your sponsorship.

I would go to a dealership aswell. The dealership that I work at sponsors an EVO. He did it very professionally with what he was planning on doing with the car, where he would race it, and how the decals would be put on the car. He also presents his progression with mods and track times. He set up a deal to only use the decals on race day. I believe the are magnet decals.

I would not expect too much money, but more of the service and parts departments cooperation with what you want to do. I believe that our dealership installed a front LSD for free for the person they sponsor. Seems like a good relationship so we will probably do more for him in the future.

I just wanted to thank everyone for all of their suggestions. Unfortunately there are not alot of performance shops in my area but there is one mitsu dealership so maybe I will write something up and see what I can do. Any shop looking for a car to test some parts out on just let me know my car is getting put away for the winter so you would have plenty of time to mess around with it.

If you go as far as getting a deal, make sure all is in writting as to what you need to do and what and how they will compensate you in return.
