It's a direct bolton, because it's the JDM MR BOV . It's exactly the same shape and size as the stock plastic one, except that it's metal and has a stiffer spring. It's now standard on the USDM IX.

I have APS BOV on my 03 and last Sunday I just put another APS BOV on my MR. Bold on easy, keep the screw on top of the bov all the way in so that it'll be recirculating. Love it.

I think you should try to find used APS on here with good price first then if cost is your concern then get the JDM MR. My friends have the jdm mr bov and like it too. So you can't go wrong with either. The APS, in person, will look and feel better so but more expensive.

The APS and JDM MR are both direct replacements. No need to modify them by removing spring or nothing. If all come done to prefense. The APS will VTA under hard acceleration while the MR will just recirculate. If you are running a aftermarket intake that removes the stock airbox they both pretty much sound the same tho. The APS might be better suited for higher boost applications tho.

Just finished installing my APS. I highly recommend it to those who want the best of both worlds. Part recirc, part VTA. I was considering the JDM MR for a long time, but ran into some extra cash. The APS is much heavier and the quality and appearance looks like it's worth the money.

Install was fairly easy. Got a few cuts from the fan shroud. Took me 20 min. 15 spent wrestling off the stocker.

I'm glad the sound is very mild. I'm running the stock airbox, but Friday I'm installing the BR intake and filter kit. We'll see how it sounds then.

Question to those who have the APS BOV

I finished the install last night and took a few picks. I think I noticed this while I was installing it, but now just remebered about it.

The orientation of the BOV is supposed to be the nipple facing down and the set screw facing the radiator, correct?

Will the VTA opening be susceptible to foreign objects getting into the opening (i.e. water or dirt)?

Just wanted to see everyone elses thoughts. Thanks.

^^^^^ you installed it correctly, there is no other way to do it, unless you put it on backwards and then it wouldn't function correctly. I think the opening facing up like that should be fine since its so far up in the engine bay.

I didn't mess with the screw. I just installed it. I heard it was set for the optimum setting from the factory. Did everyone who installed this valve mess with the screw? When you say "all the way in" is that clockwise or counter clockwise?

I can't wait to get and install the APS bov. The Forge(old version) I currently have was pissing me off at the road course track. It was fluttering and felt like it was having compressor surge on and off throttle. And bad thing was... I installed it the way their "fix" instructed us to.

It's just a shame. It's a nice bov, well made and all but for some reason it just does not work well on my car. Normal driving it's fine, but it prove to be not that great at the track.

I would have bought the JDM MR bov, but got a good deal on a used APS, so I'll see how how good it is. From what people have said, it seems to be the bov to get.

yeah normal driving without boost or low boost you don't even hear it, even at high RPM's. But when you floor it you can definitely hear it, not so much at higher RPM's because of the sound of the engine, but if you floor it and shift at like 5 g's it sounds really nice. The first time I test drove my car with it on I have to admit the sound kinda scared the crap out of me at first, then I got this big $hit eating grin on my face

hehe cool. Well its a reliable bov, and it sounds nice when you want it to. So it sounds like you can't really go wrong by getting it...

I think I will order one tonight!
