That cost me 2 grand for an attorney, but no criminal charge and no points.

Now I've got a ticket for 64 in a 55, but he says he clocked me at 78, and wrote it on the ticket.

I have a V-1, and it doesn't lie; this guy just saw me in traffic, going a little faster than the flow, and pulled me over - I can't afford a lawyer, or the 3 points that will make my insurance go up... but I can't afford to pay court costs if the cop shows up and the magistrate doesn't throw it out, either...

Any suggestions?

I wasn't going anywhere near 78, and I think this guy just figures that since I was pulling ahead of the "normal flow of traffic" I'll just pay the 80 dollar fine and take the points, and not fight it.

I'm starting to really hate cops.
Plead "guilty with an explanation." You're admitting guilt, but you have a reason. Usually you'll at least receive SOMETHING for showing up, whether it's a lesser fine, or less points.

.......And DO NOT mention you had a radar detector. You'll get shafted, for sure.

Hi,

Just another plug for the National Motorists Association (NMA).

I joined when I got a speeding ticket and "altered exhaust" ticket awhile ago. I learned a lot about the "system" and why it does make sense to fight the ticket if you can afford to (missing work or school).

Also, keep in mind the rules and process will vary depending on where you live, so you'll need to get specific information for your locale.

Finally, I can understand why you would say you hate cops out of frustration, I've felt that way as well. However, we can't generalize against all cops, and even traffic cops are just trying to do their jobs, heh.

Good luck,

Pay it and do some school

I say just pay the ticket and go to the traffic school so u don't get any points. Something like that happened to me so i went paid a lawyer to go to court, well the cop showed up i lost and ended up paying not only the ticket but also court fees. I went from paying 120 to a total of 260. The class only cost i think 40 so u are still better off that way.

2 grand for an attorney?! Dude where do you live? A friend of mine got a ticket similar to yours once, granted it was about 3 years ago but still it only costed him $500 for an attorney, who represented him in the court, pled not guilty and got him off with no points on the license, all he had to do is pay the attorney fee and a court fee (together about $625) and do a 4 hour online course.

Ok, don’t take his advice! Never ever plead guilty unless you feel you are, why in the hell would he plead guilty??? My roommates girlfriend got a ticket for 97 in a 55, but she listened to me, did the paper work postponed the trial, went to court yesterday got it reduced to 60mph bigger fine and no points.

But she has *****.....

here are some more links start reading now!

Also do you know he issued the ticket? Radar , Laser?

Next while its fresh in your head go back to where it happened and remember everything. Take pictures... was there trees, brush, anything that could of blocked his view. Was there other car around / beside you?

Was it hot enough outside to have his AC on? If so that could explain the 10MPH over.

If its radar let me know and I'll work up a pdf for you that can basically keep him on the stand for 35 minutes getting drilled with detailed radar questions that odds are he wont know. Once you get them back tracking on details we have reasonable doubt.

If its laser I have a good defense against the LTI series. However until you file for discovery we won’t know what type of radar / laser gun was used!

So here are the links!

http://www.trafficschoolcatalog.com/...6YourBasic.asp

http://www.jesbeard.com/s6.htm

http://www.speedingticket.net/board/nopoints.pdf

http://www.phrack.org/show.php?p=37&a=5

http://phunkadelic.org/WRX/How_To_Fi...ng_Tickets.pdf

those are all to help you prepare for court... lots of reading but I've read everyone so start now because the game is just beginning.

That will keep you busy for the next few days. I also have the training manuals for Lidar, Radar. That when used with those links you are going to be a master of how this stuff works.

Finally here are some videos of how laser guns works brought to you by yours truly and The Guys of Lidar. www.guysoflidar.com / www.radardetector.net

http://www.jasonsvideoproductions.co...uysoflidar.htm

I also have a video at the moment I'm editing that will show the use of instant on, from the leo's equipment. Pop mode from the same car *which* is actually fairly awful. Its getting big press for being deadly but the unit we tested made by MPH at 86MS would only get the speed 60% of the time and they car had to be fairly close. The good news if you have a newer V1 or belscort it picked it from a little over a mile. But I'm wrapping the editing up and should have the video out soon

I'm also editing a separate video that shows the flaws in radar equipment that I think is going to be huge. There are many ways for LEO's to manipulate the speed and you are going to see first hand how!!!

i don't get why you would fight it. you were going over the speed limit, no? and you knew that you were going over it, correct? just because you got a ticket and nobody else who was speeding did sucks, but regardless you were traveling above the posted speed knowingly. i don't understand why people don't take responsibility for their actions

Send a letter to the court requesting discovery of your case. The cop will have to produce the radar results at that time and also show that the radar had been calibrated recently (every state is different). Im from NJ.

who needs the money more? This guy? Or The State?

I know the governor is probably living in a shack with water from a well, electricity that is furnished by kerosene, and a bed made of hay.

the police car that pulled him over more than likely a horse that looked dehydrated because the governor is drinking it all.

see where I'm going with this?

a stretch of I-75 generated more than 2 million dollars so far this year in traffic enforcement.

I read every issue of the NMA puts out and in the last one they are talking about a small town in OH that wrote over 500K in tickets in under 6 months. The mayor got a new house, the entire squad of LEO's got a raise, and the chief of police made 150K!!!!!!!!!

tell me because I can look the info up and start naming every road in America that is the worst. How many lives are being saved?????

Do you feel safer driving knowing that someone just got a ticket for 9 mph over?

You brain washed, conformists surprise the hell out of me! Fight this BS system!

Knowledge is power, I know fighting the man seems a bit scary but trust me once you do it a few times its actually kind of fun.

^^ so i guess you are the guy that drives 55 on the highway slowing up traffic and nearly causing accidents. out in chicago, everyone drives 70-75 on the open highway. i rarely ever see accidents when it is not rush hour, but when it is rush hour and everyone is driving 30-40 there is at least one per day on my drive to work and i've seen 6 on one 25 mile trip home from work. so i don't think 64 in a 55 is very dangerous. i think rush hour is dangerous along with soccer moms is durangos and escalades, the elderly, people on their cell phone, and drunk drivers. furthermore the cop gave him a ticket that has a bigger fine then what he was really doing. he is being prosecuted for a crime he did NOT commit (23 over). he may have committed another "crime," (9 over) but he didn't commit on the one he was charged for.

I think I live in this town. I always get pegged even if I'm just going with the flow of traffic. Moral of the story: I don't speed any more.

Wags,

OH cops are the most ruthless in our great Nation. However they only use the LTI, Kustom Pro Laser III both of with are easily defeated with the proper laser jammer, and a good radar detector

I made a drive to Cleveland to actually see how ruthless they where for our last Guys of Lidar testing and its rediculous. I think we where hit 5 times once we hit the Ohio turnpike.

Type VIII: I'm just in lill ole Dover

i'm guessing that was to me. to answer your question, no, i typically go 80 on the highway and hardly ever go below the speed limit actually. hell, today i was late to work and got up to 100 on the way. but i know that at any time, for whatever reason, i can be pulled over for it, regardless of whether or not everyone else is doing it. and if i do get pulled over, i'm not gonna be a ***** and try to say that i wasn't speeding and try to get out of it. i'll own up to what i was doing
