Oil Change Question

Hello,

I need to get my oil changed, but I wanna do it the right way, and make sure I am getting the Mobile 1 synthetic.

If I were to go to an oil change place would I be able to get Mobile One? Or are they going to use their own oil, or some other brand?

What would be the best thing to do?

I do my own, but a lot of oil change places carry Mobile 1 Synthetic (Walmart, etc.). I would just call (look in the phone book) and find a place that stocks it.

DIY, to make sure. Either that or call places and see if they stock it. Or, you could buy it yourself and bring it with you. They'll use that.

I change the oil myself (easy). But if you had to take it to a shop best bet would be to buy the Mobile 1 syn yourself and watch them put it in your car. Best guarantee.. Make sure you get a reduced price (oil filter/labor).

do it yourself, if not, buy your own oil, fliter, and crusher ring, and take it to the place, they will just charge you labor.

But do it yourself man! it's easy as pie, there's a how-to on this forum. It's like a 4 step process.

Got mine changed yesterday at a local oil service station. When calling around none of them carried Mobil syn.1. The guy told me to pick some up at the auto supply store. Which I did and they charged me like $22, to change.

If you have 1 hour and can unbolt 2 things, then you can change your own oil.

....and you're an "evolving member"?

I bring mine down do a local Mobil that has a shop in it. The guy jacks the car up and lets me just talk to him about the car and I get to see underneath it which is pretty cool. They always carry Mobil one and he told me it took 5 quarts and whatever generic oil filter they carry.

One of these times I'll do it myself. But with my luck, I won't torque a bolt tight enough or something, leak out all the oil and blow my engine.

Oil change is one of the easiest maintenance. I suggest you do it now because simply drive a car. If you're rich then this may not hold true to you but you should at least know how to do it.

Well I wanna change my oil, but I do not have a oil filter. I did a search and many recommend sticking to the oem oil filter.. I don't really wanna go back to my dealership to get one.. what are some of my other choices? (drive distance)
