Fluids...
Does anyone use anything different ? I read an article about a Synthetic Oil called Royal Purple that was supposed to be 400% better than the leading automotive oil. So i thought i would pick some up and part of the advertisement said not to use on your car until it gets to a certain mileage. Sounds kinda awespicious to me ?? Does anyone use anything other than Mobile 1 ?
I was also thinking about swapping my brake fluid to Motuls . Any one heard anythin bad bout them ? What do you all use ?

^^ if you read that in Modified...that's just an arm of the industry talking and doing a 4 page ad for a magazine and called it an article, its sickening. RP is good...I guess, but Mobil 1 should be fine...if it ain't broke, don't fix it...you're just asking for trouble from the dealer when your engine goes and dealer finds out you have something other than M1 in there...it's a lovely scapegoat.
basically, I want someone to prove M1 is inferior to any other oil...then I would believe, and so far, I have found proof it's mostly the same, or better.

So was Royal Purple any good ? Obviously not because your not using anymore ! Or was it because of the price ( i never saw a price listing ). Speaking of price SH*T Mobile 1 is awful expensive.

^^is Royal Purple good? - that's quite subjective...."uh yeah, I use to run 13.4s on M1, now I run 12.9s on RP".....the properties of both oils are the same!
why is Mobil 1 bad??? This is my point. I think you're just looking for trouble trying to switch oil, but it is your car. All I'm saying is, if there was a problem with M1, you would have heard about it by now.

^^haha, yes, I knew that's the cheapest place to get M1...walmart's awesome. I think you end up saving like 4 cents if you get the jug instead of the quarts, or something like that...it's not like how they do milk.
Uh, Royal Purple, M1, both roughly equivalent. I've tracked both, didn't notice any difference. In terms of your brake fluid question, I will only use Motul RF 600, which is super expensive (upwards of $12/half liter) because I boiled ATE Superblue on a track once, pedal went to the floor at about 140, and it was the scariest moment of my life. So Motul is so well worth it for me. I guess it comes down to level of aggression while driving, (if not tracking the car, ATE Superblue or Gold will work fine for brake fluid - if you're tracking it, I'd run Motul). I don't think there are definitive stats proving one or another, since we all use our cars differently. My .02
Mobil1 is great oil. That's why many manufacturers recommend it straight from the factory. (Mercedes, BMW, Chevy, Porsche, etc.)
The cheapest place I have found M1 is costco. It's like 3.89 a quart or something like that. I know it's under 4 bucks though.
I've used M1 for years on all my cars, and have a 92 Integra with 440k miles still running original motor, still on M1.
At 280k, I installed some cams on it and the valvetrain still looked great.
A great site to go for good fluid information is www.bobistheoilguy.com
Royal Purple is also really good oil, but at 9 bucks a quart, I'm sticking with M1.
