Seriously, search first, then we'll help. This has been discussed more times than I can remember...

05s have front LSD, ACD, larger hotside (10.5cm^2), revamped wastegate design, 20whp more on average, and aluminum bits (hood, trunk, roof and side door beams). Not sure which parts were aluminum on 03/04s. The 05 GSRs did not have the aluminum roof, but the MR and RS do.
IMO the advice on buying a used Evo is very simple:
** If you are not 100% sure of the vehicle's history ... DO NOT BUY IT!! **
- If someone did not religiously maintain their Evo, there can be a lot of potential issues
- ditto for abuse
- ditto for being a dumba$$ and not knowing how to drive
- ditto for modding w/out research (ie. just throwing money at the car)
So, with that in mind:
- If the car is supposed to be "stock" - make REALLY sure it's never been modded
- If it has been modded, get all receipts, find out who did the work, and research that person/shop
- Make sure you have an extra $2000-3000 available to handle any maintenance that might come up (clutch, tires, alignment, oil change, tranny/tc/rear diff fluid change)
- look up the service history (does the car still have its warranty, was the warranty ever voided on it)
If any of these bullets do not check out ... RUN, don't walk away from the car.
Now this might seem to be a harsh attitude to take towards a car that I own and love ... but the fact of the matter remains that I have seen too many ppl mistreat their Evos and do some really stupid $hit to their Evos, only to turn around and whine and complain and sell their car. The pickier you are up front, the less headaches you should have later.

Now if you would like to fix the website please do, but don't call me a liar.
ok so its been a while since this topic was discussed. I decided to keep my car for a bit. But today i went for a test drive in an 03 evo. Big difference over my rex. It did have a catback tho. I noticed that the steering wheel vibrated a lot both when driving and when standing still. That doesn't seem normal. Also the BOV sounded like there was an HKS SS on it. Is that normal? I loved the tight steering and braking. The tranny felt good, the shifter however was a little more stiff than my rex. It has 28k on it and they want $22k from the dealership. It only comes with a 3mon/3k mile warranty, i would have to buy one if i wanted anything else. Input please on what else to look for

be more specific in your search, donīt just look for " evo problem"
I have only been here for a month and I have seen those problems discussed more times than I can counīt. But seriously, search and you will find your answers. these guys know things that I am not even a bit interested in
If you are dead-set on getting a used Evo, check this one out: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=181660
My advice on the one at the dealership: have them do a compression test, check out the engine bay (i.e. take a look at, or even better, a pic of a stock engine bay and compare it to the used one on the lot). Have them check the ECU to see if it was flashed. Look at tire wear (i.e. is it uneven), check brake pads. If the car has a boost gauge, how high does it boost?
