I'd worry more about an Evo than a Honduh.

I had a 00 Civic Si, it got broken into 3 times, twice to steal stock wheels.

The 3rd time, they tried to steal the whole car, broke the steering column and had a screwdriver jammed into the ignition. Only thing that prevented them was the car alarm hidden back up siren going off, someone saw it and yelled at them and they ran off. Oh, and it happened at 10am in the morning at my office parking lot.

I don't think Evos are necessarily hard to break into, its just that there's no demand for stock Evo parts to put on other cars. And that's a good thing.

the new trend for theives now adays, is the K motor. they love stealing rsxs and even tsx for the k24 motor. to drop into their civics. that was one reason i was ready to get of my base rsx. i mean i know it wasnt the potent k20a from the type S but you always get the moron crooks that think because it looks damn good its a type s or r. im happy with my evo. alota faster and i have no worries of people vandilizeing it.

i think the only way to keep yer civic safe is to wipe the key holes and then take out hte ignition and then use keyless entry euro style and remote ignition. but then you still have to worry about them breaking hte window and tearing up the steering column... i was gonna a a light car for a daily but man... too much stress with any honda.

Keyhole or not, they go through the window to get the inside door lock release. I won't go into details but its really easy to do. Getting the hood open is very easy as well...

Since owning the Honda I'm paranoid about any car I own, only park in certain places and always keep at least 3 different forms of security armed. As with any security, it only slows them down. A pro will get through about anything.

Congrats and I am also coming from the world of Honda with b18c5.

There was nothing else could worry me more than the car during all those years. The car was broken into 3 times with stealing of stereo. I was too lucky for not getting the motor stolen by those stupid thiefs.

Finally decided to sell the car. I did not want to because the motor is just amazing, but I am living in an apartment where they only allow to park 1 car. The main concern again is the thiefs. Would you rather to park the Evo on the street and leave the Type R in the apartment complex or the other way around? (Sure most of you would say the Evo inside and the little ricy Type R out) I do not blame on those of you who said this because once you have driven a Type R on tracks (circuit), you will be amazed how that thing moves around the track with its superior motor.

At last, decided to get an Evo with less thief attention, but gained a lot of other attentions at the same time.

Good luck and take care of the new baby. Make sure bring her down to tracks.

lol I remember when Evo VIII's were first released here, the first two official imports were at Mitsubishi's main HQ, one was stolen (and recovered later) and another was stripped of its wheels and side skirts (don't ask.) An automotive mag had to find one to use in their road test since the one they had booked was stolen and ended up using one from a used car yard that had been imported from Japan.

The cars with the highest theft rate here are WRX's and the twin turbo Legacy's. Yet so many people still insist on buying them.

Evo's are in pretty high demand too. One guy had his 6.5 TME stolen where they had actually broken into other cars prior to pushing it out of the driveway and into a trailer lined with tin foil to prevent the owner from tracking it via GPS. .....some people.
