Evo Owners, This Bud's For You!
Evo Owners, This Bud's For You!
Hey, guys, I don't know if this belongs in "General," or not, but I have some awesome news for those of you that dig R/C!
Radio Shack has just released the Evolution under their "XMods" brand R/C cars. Check out "www.xmodsrc.com" for more information on these.
It looks like I'm going to be getting an Evo, after all!
I already have a 2004 STi XMod, and a 1967 Camaro XMod. These things are pretty cool, and they look pretty authentic, as far as the styling goes.

I also bought almost all the parts for my STi and Camaro. Everything except for wheels, that is.
I even went so far as to get a $5 carbon fiber driveshaft off of eBay.
Keep in mind that they only have rwd, and you need to buy the awd kit to convert the Evo. I have the AWD in my STi.
I can't wait to see the body kit for the new Evo MR car.

They're little r/c cars that are about 6 inches long. You can upgrade motors, suspensions, gears, wheels, tires, ground effects kits, etc. You can even purchase carbon fiber driveshafts off of eBay for them.
Be forwarned. These cars are addictive, and IF you choose to purchase ALL of the parts, you're looking at about a $190-$200 investment EACH.

I just don't think that would do it for me.
I used to race 1/10 scale cars...I have a gas powered AWD car with all kinds of mods. Probably got over $1,000 in that thing.
I need to knock the dust off it and tune it up, or sell it. Just haven't had the time to race it in a while.

Especially if you drink the water in the Virgin Islands.
I won't make that mistake again......
oh.. ok, sounds cool. Too bad the only place i could use one is in my small kitchen. And i hear ya on the moding costs. I bought 2 T-Maxx trucks 2 years ago and spent almost 1500 in extra parts, bodies and everything else i could find for them. Those trucks would do about 60 some mph!

Tons of fun, goes 60 or 65, but gets there in a helluva hurry!

Aside from that, I've never built a motor, or have had any experience with them, and it looked like one screw-up, and I would be stuck purchasing a new motor, which was pretty expensive, if I recall.
I think I'll stick to the "kiddie toys," like XMods.
