Yeah well i was stating them towards the IX seeing if theres good enough knowledge yet. I already got my 11's list and searched for that. I was just saying that will some of those mods be able to apply here. But I guess I might end up being 1 of the 1st ppl to mod more than basic bolt ons..

Well, you only need basic bolt-ons to hit 11s anyway as you can see in my sig (no cams yet). If you'd done your homework, I don't think you would have said "and none of the BOVs will work with it" nor would you be considering a titanium exhaust, but I could be wrong.

Other BOVs will work, but you don't need them, since the IX already comes with an upgraded BOV (the JDM MR DV). Also, a titanium cat-back costs more than an entire stainless steel TBE, so it's only useful for about 8lbs of weight savings and bragging purposes.

When you say 11s, are you talking my type of 11s where you are just trying to nip an 11.99 or something along the lines of 11.3-11.5 where you'd need to be going 120mph?

I'm looking for the mid 11s type. like you stated around 11.3 would be nice. but I think I will end up getting a different exhaust anyways besides the TI. and the bov question was just something I threw in but I don't really plan on changing it. thanks though

I'm not trying to be an ***, just to be funny, really.......

........ even though you know very little about the Evo 9, it's about as much as we all know about it too!

It's a brand new car, so give it some time before you commit yourself to it!

Has anybody tried any of the ecu extender harnesses (eg Fields) with the 9?

Ok, if your goal is really 11.3-11.5, you are going to need to make up a plan right now that includes an upgraded turbo. You will need to decide which turbo you're going to use and which engine management system you'll use. You won't feasibly be able to run consistent 11.3-11.5 on the stock turbo, because you will need to be going over 120mph. This is not feasible on the stock turbo, so if you prepare now, you won't end up re-buying parts later.

Now, it's POSSIBLY that the IX turbo and MIVEC setup allow for people to hit 11.3-11.5 without upgrading the turbo, but we won't know that for a while, and since you don't know much, I wouldn't expect that to be something you pioneer. I suggest to either change your expectations to something more realistic, or be prepared to upgrade the turbo.

sounds fair enough. Now I have done a little research on turbos but what would you think of upgrading to? I know of the buschur 20g do you think that would be enough? I've also looked at a few turbos from agp. ? thanks again

Actually, the first turbo that came to mind for you to hit 11.3-11.5 @ 120 was the Buschur 20g. That would probably work if you set it up properly.

AGP? I didn't know they made turbos for us...I've seen an AGP sticker on a crazily-modded SRT-4 that I beat by a full second at the drag strip, but I don't know anything about their turbos on an Evo.

Well they have dsm turbo's. But I have found better turbos anyway. If set up properly w/ a good set of bolt ons and cams with a good tune and higher octane 11.3 should be definately attainable correct? I also looked at the atp GT3076R but I'm not sure if that's direct bolt on? - same as the garret gt30? thanks

Oh, well DSM turbos don't work on the Evo, so...

Yes, that sort of setup should get a 20g to an 11.3 with good driving. The mph will be there, but driving is the hard part.

I can't help you with the ATP turbos or anything larger...

ok well thanks again for all the help I appreciate it.. Is the 20g capable of more than 11.3 w/ good driving? If not I may lean towards a larger turbo like the atp gt30.

Nope, this was our first dilemma when WORKS got the ECU a month ago. The IX only has three plugs on the harness vs. the four on the VIII.

Thanks, Jamie! Almost ordered one today, I'll just have to wait until someone brings one out. I'd rather not hack into the factory harness to get the full fuction of my turbo timer (HKS type 1).
