the rumor is (& briefly mentioned in the article) is that it will be built on a Dodge platform. what they also didn't mention is that there will be an AWD SRT-4 coming out as well. also in the pics, you will notice that there are only 2 PEDALS!!!! that sounds like an auto trans to me whether it has paddles or not...

Actually no, what you see is what you get. Below is from the autoweek article:
"Forget the concept tag on Mitsubishi’s Concept-X for the Tokyo show. This is how the new Lancer Evolution X (as in 10) will look."

Per the article:
"This powerplant will mate to a clutchless six-speed auto/manual transmission, reportedly able to swap cogs at the blink of an eye, slicker and more efficient than any manual. The driver will be able to select gears via the steering wheel-mounted paddles."
Looks like a good toy and I'll bet it's close to production trim. I'm betting we'll see it in early 2007. The real question is which of the cool pieces will make it to production and which of those will make it to the US Spec. I'd be excited about the paddle shifters if they make it. Look at many racing series from WRX to F1 and the paddles (if they are good paddles) are always the fastest.
I can't wait to see it in a different color--not crazy about that Red. I'll bet in black the front grille looks a lot better too.

Subaru is the same way as well as other japanese makers. JDM STI is rated at 280 while they are rated 265 every where else in the world.

What I found interesting was the Evo timeline that was published. What's up with the older Evos having 276 hp, and then the Evo VIII being rated with 271 hp?
I did notice that the earliest Evos were weighing in at about 2600 lbs, and had about 246-250 hp. I'd be interested to see how fast those versions were, because that's a pretty decent power/weight ratio.
