OH MAN THATS NOT 2 bad @ all! U actually did a good Job saving
That turn Ive seen the after affects of not knowing how 2 drive@ all.
If the body shop is good they might be able to save that fender. But the other stuff is minor!

That brings memories when I put my car into the a guard rail on 495 because my dumbass feel asleep!

You wont be taking turns like that again for a while...trust me
no offense taken. its funny you mention that, because as soon as i felt it start to slide, the thoughts in my head were as follows...

alright, stay calm.
this is an evo, make small corrections.
(made small left turn, car came back around the other way)
(made small right turn)
there, its straight.
(cars completely whips around, no response to wheel)
what the...???
(guard rail coming closer)
its ok. it'll stop just short of it.
*crunch*
or not.

Until the advans get up to operating temp they suck.Same thing drove 9mls to highway
45 degrees do the speed limit (40mph). Go toget on highway ,have taken that turn at
wot no problem well thought the tirers were hot wrong.Luckily only doing50 mph, no
warning the *** starts to go and I am along for the ride.Ido a180 did not hit any thing
got lucky. Moral to the story tirers need to be hot to grip.So in cold climates you need
allseason tirers and slow down.

again, many thanks for the support. i am very glad we were both ok, we didn't even have the slightest whiplash.

its frustrating to think that i'm not the only one who's experienced this problem with the stock tires. i understand putting performance tires on such a car stock, but you would think there's some liability there. i mean, they still sell evo's in the winter up here, and what do they do, say "here are your keys, but don't drive it until you get some new tires"? that just doesn't sit right with me. from what i know, all street legal tires have to be M&S (mud and snow) rated. i'm going to have to look into this.

if you had it going straight, I wouldn't think the back end would step out that violently due to cold tires. It sounds like you'd been driving awhile, so they should have had at least some heat in them. Maybe a LSD problem due to the initial slide?

those tires are too soft for skid marks, no? I did read about this on here about doing the same thing that happened to you!

just walked the scene with my roommate. the skid marks were less than ten feet long, and those were only of when the car was sliding parallel into the guardrail. nothing from where it started drifting, nothing from when it spun around. just bad luck. stupid tires.

If it was asphalt up to the guard rail you probably would have stopped in time. Grass doesn't work to good for stopping. Be happy it didn't happen in NC or some dumb*ss would have been tailgating you and T-boned you. Glad your OK.
