There probably isn't too much you are going to be able to do to get out of a laser ticket. Best you could probably do is talk to the prosecutor BEFORE your court date and negotiate for a reduction. Offer to take defensive driving classes or whatever it may be in your state. Your main goal should be not to lose your license. If you were in one of those wackjob jurisdictions that are gung ho against speeders, you can probably kiss your license goodbye at 107.

Good luck!
Mr. Kinetic, everyone should know that travelling at a speed as rediculous as 107 at the hours of 6-9am, 11-1, or 3-5pm in the left lane or in light traffic is a major no-no. And in CT on top of that. I have only witnessed 1 person get out of a laser ticket besides myself and he had a military ID. Yes I do speed but am more likely to do 80 in my slow *** 95 jetta than in a car that sticks out in a sea of cars like the moon does in the night sky. They are not going to cut him a break unless both cops dont show for court. So good luck to him and God bless.

85 and over is "Reckless Driving" in CT, which is a minimum of 30 days suspended, maximum of 90.

ALTHOUGH I do remember reading a clause that stated you cannot get nabbed with 'Reckless Driving' due to speed alone. There has to be more than one violation, such is 'unsafe lane change' mixed in with the speed. I'll have to check on that.

107 in a 2005 Evo is safer than 80 in a 1995 Jetta.

So by your logic if some of the members on this board have raped women at one time, then another member would be justified in doing it since other people have, right?

I don't buy this whole "Oh man don't tell me you've never gone over X speed in your Evo!" Some of us don't like speeding tickets and moreover some of us are responsible drivers. I head up to the track enough to not care about doing 160 on the highway and I know I am not alone in thinking like that.

And 107 on public roads isn't safe in any car, sorry.

then obviously you have never ventured into nebraska, montana, eastern colorado, texas, the dakotas, wyoming, utah... ****... anywhere other then the eastern seaboard for that matter. and what about the autobahns in europe.... the cars cannot handle it? or are you just to afraid to drive that fast...? i understand driving the speed of traffic, but even in big cities such as detroit, TRAFFIC FLOWS AT 90+. you are putting people at risk when you drive the speed limit in places like that.

How true.

I would invest in a Valentine v1 and a good blinder. It might be about $1000 bucks in total but well worth the hassle of not being pulled over.

I dont think it quite works like that. *Most* people dont buy a FAST car to do the speed limit every single time they get behind the wheel. If they say they do, they are either a.) Lying, or b.) Wasting their money.

First, I never said or will say anything about Safety vs. speed on public roads. But a piece of pavement with no other cars on it labeled as a 'highway', and a piece of pavement with no cars on it labeled as a 'track' only differ in runoff room, for the most part. And I have had more friends total at Lime Rock than on the streets. Dont take this as a justification for my ticket, its not, but people are too up on their high horse. Have you ever done 100 on the road? I'm not going to make assumptions, but anyone in a 'Tuner' car on a 'Tuner' forum usually tests their car out at some point and the track is not always accessible nor is it the most practical. That is a fact. What says this can't happen to someone that is going 100 for the first time and was unlucky enough to get caught?

By your logic, you must have failed logic class.

Speeding is not a crime against another person. Rape is. Big difference. Had the OP gotten into an accident as a result of doing 107 on a public road, then by all means, throw the book at him. He didn't, so take your high and mighty attitude to an accident thread where someone actually deserves to be lectured.

I was going along the lines that "if others do it, it must be ok!" because that is pretty much what most people are saying in this thread. Sure it was extreme, but its the same stupid logic.

Right, and you are also citing examples where either the is aware of high speed traveling. If you are going 107 in an area where the general "accepted" speed limit is somewhere between 65-80mph, something bad is going to occur when you fly up on someones *** at 107mph.

I believe the logic you are looking for would be: if you raped a woman you would be in no place to tell other people they should not rape women. Terrible reference in any context though, lets move on shall we.

Right, but here we are referring to a dry, open road (no asses to fly up on), during the day time.

Sucks to get pulled over in the morning man sorry, happened to me once its a nightmare the absolute last thing you want. Def. get a lawyer and try and fight that speed trap.
