Test drives

Has anyone encountered issues trying to test drive their Evo before purchase? I am going to the Mitsu dealer this weekend to hopefully take a IX for a test drive. Last year I was told at the Subaru dealership that they don't do test drives on the STi. I replied that I am not spending $30k+ on a car I havent even driven. With that, the salesguy took me for a drive, but the manager was irked. (I didn't buy it ) Should I expect the same at the Mitsu dealer, or do they treat them like any other car?

Expect the same. They will give in if you push them.

It got so bad in the showroom when i wanted to test drive a Sti they had me "removed" Later that day i drove back with my new EVO. Parked, went inside and said thanks to the sales man for makeing my mind up on which one to buy. He couldn't speak. I think i still made the right choice.

I test drove one at a Ford dealer, used obviously, they kept saying how they wanted to get rid of it so much lol, but it probably was overpriced, it was all scratched on the outside too, bastards. Gone from the dealer now so they must have sold/traded it.

many mitsu dealers are hesitant to lest people test drive casue the real buyers want a new car that wasn't test driven the hell out of it. I know that i would want a very low mileage and complete warm-up before anyone drove it and all RPMS kept under 2.5k evo. This is the exact reason, people are refusing to buy some test driven evos since they know that neone test drving this car isn't some daily driver soccer mom, it's an adrenealin pumped guy/girl seeing how fast and how much abuse the car can take. If you talk with the sales person and you tell him that you are making your decision between say an STi and Evo within say like 2 days, and that you'll test drive this first, then the STi, they usually will let you test drive it.

When I went to walk out the Mitsubishi dealer's door they wanted to let me test drive the VIII. But it was too late because I was already so angry that I was no longer interested. I went to my local Subaru dealer, they let me test drive the car without the sales person in the vehicle. I told them my situation they said that they'd be glad to help me out and they did. That's why I own an STi.

Evo's and STi's are insanely hard to get test drives in. disregarding the few special cases in which ppl just get to drive the car(s); i was told by sales ppl that we get to drive the car after we are finished with all the paper work, then we can take the car around a few blocks, and if we really dont like the car at that point, then we rip the papers apart and just go home without the car. i don't know, but i've been to more than just a couple of mitsu dealerships, and none of them allow any test drives. me nor my friends, and we all busted every skill we know, such as bringing family's most expensive cars there with parents, etc..... maybe it's my face.

Yes. They know people who actually buy the evo don't want test drive miles on it. They get a lot of kids wanting to test drive with no intention (or way) to actually buying the car. However, if they know you are serious, and have the money they will probably let you test drive. I got to test drive one with ~50 miles on the odo. WHen I bought mine, I made the dealer find one with less that 10 miles on the odo. My Evo had only 6 miles on the odo when I bought it. I'm wondering if that's why my evo has none of the problems people always ***** about...

get a friend with any year evo, you drive and park right in front of the car you want to test drive in most dealers you can do that, if not park right in front of the front door

it works......if you dont act like a 2f2f a$$hole
