things to consider on EVO WHP
I believe that the 230 whp is more realistic than the 190 etc. for the following reasons. If you look at some old SCC or Turbo issues on upgraded WRX's you will find that a stock WRX puts about 180 horse to the wheels, so I don't see how an EVO can only be putting 10 more to the ground. Second, in an old SCC where they tested a UK spec EVO 7 against a tuned WRX they got 247 whp out of 276 crank. Now with the US EVO only making 5 less horsepower than the Evo 7 (which is pretty damn good, I was expecting a bigger gap knowing emissions) the wheel horsepower should not be far below 247.
Not all dynos read the same. I think this has been discussed on this forum a few times. We use a dyno dynamics dyno which reads lower than a dynojet or mustang dyno. That's why we only see around 160 whp for the WRX and 180 whp for the Evo. We also tested an Evo VII and got between 212-230 whp depending on the octane of gas. So the Evo VIII is around 30-50 whp short of the Evo VII on our dyno depending again on the octane of the gas in the tank.

I see your point with the different dynos. It just sucks that there is no consistency. I f someone asks how much power your getting to the ground you can't give them a straight answer. I still don't understand how our Evo 8 can have a 30-50 whp difference from the Evo 7 when the crank hp has only a difference of 5 hp.
