There are a couple of us over here in Southern Arizona that have EVO's approximatly 5 of us . We play around on the road with each other and i was just wondering, is it normal when (what i think is) people are WOT to blow smoke out the back end? I mean i know our cars run rich at WOT but is that a symptom of running rich ? Will a reflash take care of this ?

My other question is , aside from RPM is there any one gear that is stronger or pulls more than the other ? I noticed my 3rd and 4th gear are always so much fun in !!! I mean they just pull for days and i love it but what would make these two gears seem stronger than say 1st and 2nd ?

 

Yes, its ok for you car to blow black smoke. They run big rich stock. Yes, a flash will help this out a bit.

3rd and 4th gear don't pull harder, just longer. I find 2nd and 3rd to be my favorite gears.

 

3rd if my favorite gear when im not tapering boost bad. all of my turbo cars have spit out black smoke when they are cat less, my wrx shot out fireballs

 

Ok so it is normal that it shoots out a mist of black smopke when you go WOT but what causes that ? If it can be fixed my a reflash what is it about the reflash that fixes it ?

 

That is unburned fuel and a flash will lean it out some, but it will probably always be there to some extent.
