Racing Evos parts

I read a japanese Evolution magazine (tried to read) and noticed that most of the racing Evos are running with:
NGK grade 8 spark plugs (from 300hp to 550hp)
Advan Neova AD07 or Advan A048 (90% of the Evos)

I was thinking if a light mod Evolution would benefit from a colder spark plug

From what I understand, and my knowledge of electrical systems is limited at best, you don't even want to go 1 step colder with a spark plug until you are 50-100 whp over stock.

I think that is because at that HP level, the motor is then generating a level of heat that would require the colder plug.

I think for a mildly modified car, stick with the stock temperature range, but just be sure to gap the plugs properly.

8 is 2 steps colder spark.

7 is 1 step which most slightly modded evos use, and 6 is the stock spark we use.

Most people run the NGK BPR7ES's.

Aftermarket Turbo users run the NGK BPR8ES's or the EIX's for the Iridiums.
