just past 6K on the tach. Okay, that may be overstating the issue but it seems that just when things are getting good the door shuts.
I'm a new Evo guy and am not sure what to expect. I bought my car w/out getting to really test it (break-in, you know) and was very careful about the break-in procedure.
I'm now at 800 miles and have gotten on it a few times. *Some* of those times it's seemed the above has happened.
Is this a shared experience, to be expected in a new car or just my imagination?

From the factory, we run rich beginning at 5200rpm, and EXTREMELY rich beyond 6k rpm. This causes a power lull right in that 6k area, but if you hold it all the past 7k, you will feel another burst in the high 6k area, which is where we hit peak HP. This is why tuning is valuable, because even when stock, a tune can get rid of that lull, provide linearly increasing power all the way to 6800, and bump the peak torque as well as peak hp by 20+ each...
Now, if you are referring to a complete loss of power along with boost falling off to 0 and a high-pitched whistle, then it's because your intake snorkel isn't fastened down, but I don't think you were referring to THAT big of a drop-off...

THe XEDE is a great piggyback, especially with the SMART system. I chose to pick my other components and complement them with an XEDE. If you want on-stop shopping you can't go wrong with VISHNU.

I was in the same boat as you cj8718...I came from a single turbo RX7 that never stops pulling to the Evo which had great bottom end but no top end! I've since gone full turbo back and added a MBC which I "think" I have dialed in as of today. Custom tune flash is next. With the TBE alone, car still falls flat on it's face. Throw on the boost controller and things get much better up top.
