Question Hardwiring LM-1 and XD-1

I want to hardwire the LM-1 and was wondering how you guys did it. I was thinking of cutting off the cigaratte adapter and splicing/soldering the red to power (either pin #12 or #25 on http://www.roadraceengineering.com/e...-ecuwiring.htm) and black to ground (anything metal on the car; I haven't decided where yet). If I don't want to cut up the power cable, can I purchase something similar at Radio Shack?

To power up the XD-1, did you guys splice into the wires under the steering column? Thinking about getting power from the black/white ignition wire under the steering column (per https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=109932) because it's the closest. I'm planning on placing the XD-1 on the right side of the gauge cluster. Please advise if there's a better location to draw power from.

Last question. For GND on the RPM converter, did you guys ground to the chasis or to the ECU (pin #92)? I'm planning on splicing/soldering into Throttle Position sensor (#84), Intake Air Temp sensor (#72), Coolant Temp sensor (#83), and MAP sensor (will need to purchase one) so a ground is needer per Innovative's instructions.

BTW, I'm using a patch harness so the ECU harness will not be damaged.

Thanks in advance.

Cliffs: How did you hardwire LM-1? Black/white ignition wire under steering column ok to power XD-1? How did you ground GND on the RPM converter?

For the gauge (XD-1) tap into the wires for the cigarette lighter. Brown for power, black for ground. Done and done!

You'll need to extend the leads coming from the gauge to reach depending upon where you intend to mount the gauge, but we have installed 2 XD-1 units in this manner with no problems.

Good luck!

For the sensors, correct? I remember reading that on Innovative's forum. I believe someone said it was okay to ground to the chassis but want to confirm.

Thanks for the advice, Mike. I already have the Blitz SBC-iD hooked up to the power from the cigarette lighter. It won't hurt to connect another device to it but I was trying to find something closer.
