Daily driven is what you make of it, people make daily drivers out of 600-700WHP cars. I would be one of those who would tolerate that and I plan on it in the future

I'd stick with the manual boost controller. Either a hallman or a Forge Unos. Not only is it cheaper, its more reliable. Al's sub 10 sec evo runs a Forge MBC.

Abicus has definitely done his homework! It's refreshing to see someone read and learn instead of asking questions that have been answered a million times. Nice setup!

That gives you an idea of how easy it is to get the evo in the 350-400 range, and how cheap it can be if you spend right.

I would agree that injectors are a waste of money for the setup that you are looking at going with.

Go with Buschur Racing, his staged packages all have a BR ECU Flash to go with them and work great. I ran 11's on his mail-in Flash and a stage 4 car. Drive the car daily with 2 kids seats in the back.

Thanks for the excellent replies. Very good information . After digesting what some people wrote I have some follow up food for thought questions.

Seems that the larger injectors are out. Overkill. But several people mentioned a stronger fuel pump. Fuel pump seems like a pretty cheap add on. I think they run like $90. So I expect I will probably get one even if its benefit is marginal.

Some have suggested that cams and cam gears would be overkill. Question is, why do I see so many people with HKS 272 cams in their rides. Almost every article/website/ride has these or similar cams. To me it makes sense to maximize the potential of the engine. The better it breathes the greater the potential, right? Or is this not right?

A turbo back exhaust system seems a given. I have a magnaflow cat back, so in theory I can get away with a test pipe and possibly a down pipe. Not that expensive.

Lots of people have the intercooler upgraded. To me swapping the intercooler has always seemed kind of a luxury. The piping seems more important since some of the aftermarket makers have greatly reduced the number of bends in the pipe. Also not that expensive compared to a new IC.

Is the stock BOV just crappy? I don't know why I read a lot of people replacing the BOV.

Manual or electronic boost controller. Thats like asking the abortion question. I think I will just go manual and if I see the need to upgrade then I will just eat the $90 bucks I spent on the manual boost controller.

Curious...only a few people mentioned the methanol injection. It appealed to me because it can be set up to only come on during high boost/WOT conditions. Its also cheaper than nitrous in the long run.

I could install most of these upgrades myself but the problem is I live in an apartment and all my tools are packed up in boxes in my storage space. I figured I would get the people who were tuning the ECU to install. The tuners would be TOPSPEED who have a pretty good rep (as far as I know) and yes they have a AWD dynojet.

Thanks in advance for your further responses

1)Is 350-400 HP a reasonable goal for a daily driver?

2) what will get me there? I have some money set aside already but I still need to spend wisely.

Here are some things that several people have suggested as possible upgrades. I can't afford all of them. Help me pick.

Anyway your comments are greatly appreciated.

IC piping isn't so bad, but replacing the IC is not only not needed but will gain insufficient power for the $. Just don't do it unless your going huge power and need to cool alot more air. I think on stock turbo the best i saw was 20 hp gain from better intercooler. Pretty much get that down pipe and cat delete and you got that same power...

Yes stock BOV is plastic and leaks boost, JDM MR DV is the sh*t.

I think everyone agrees on you getting some cams, extremly beneficial; sure 272's what ever. I'm pretty sure everyone is saying toss the cam gears...

MBC and EBC are personal preference, same function.

I WOULD go with meth inj. I'm going with it myself and poeple who use it swear by it. There is a post that i think David Buschur wrote that will instantly make up your mind about meth inj.

IMO if i were you i would just stay active in this forum, and after short time you will decide for yourself what it takes to hit your goals efficiently.

It really helps to bounce ideas off people. I have a pretty good idea of what I am going to be doing now. Stay tuned for dyno sheets.

BTW anyone have a nice warm garage that I could use to install some of these parts? Live in an apartment right now. Tools all in storage.
