What is the most you paid for Evo?
I got a call last nite that my Yellow Evo had come in along with a blue one. It is early, suppose to be in 3/21. Anyway I went there today to look at it and I was utterly impressed. It looks so much better in person. Pictures don't do justice! Now the dealer tagged a 5000 markup on it. My question is has anyone spent more than MSRP? And by how much. I am single, 29, and have a clean driving record, so insurance should not be too bad. I pull about 50-60g's a year depending on overtime, so I guess I can afford it. I just really want the car and I plan to keep it for a long time. This will be my first new car purchase and I just don't want to miss the train. I don't want to have to wait another year. I have actuall been waiting since Jan/Feb of 2001 when I found out they were thinking of bringing the Evo here.
Dude, 5K isn't that bad....go ahead and buy it...after the first couple miles you'll forget all about that 5K mark-up and will be glad you didn't wait.....If you want it that bad, just buy it!!
I have to agree with Uranium. If your really like the car, odds are you'll forget about the markup. Just remember that the dealers are now dealing (in Southern California anyways). It's been two weeks since the car arrived, and many of them are still sitting on the dealership floors still (two weekends later), so don't feel shy about haggling.
I dont reccomend paying over msrp.. In about a month prices should come down to sane. I paid msrp, but I've had deposit for almost a year, and most msrp dealers have waiting lists. just for reference, I'm 23, make around 50k, pay cheap rent, and can afford the car ok, so you should be fine, but a 5k markup might make it tight. rememebr to not try to pay more than 20% of your take-home pay on car payments.
You said "your yello EVO arrived". If you were on a list for that car and the dealer forgot to mention a 5k markup tell them no. If you drop 5k more, then everyone else behind you will have to work a lot harder to buy at MSRP.
At least haggle with the jerks. Dealers believe yellow is the hardest to move. Tell them they should have told you they were going to gouge you and you'll take the car now at MSRP... period; throw your phone number at them as you leave ..... they will call.
Speelimit....

It is just plain stupid to pay over msrp. There are 6500 being made..there won't be a shortage, especially with the Sti coming out soon. You will be able to get msrp or below in a matter of months everywhere. I already have a dealer that is going to sell to me for below msrp...how much below I don't know yet.
But, if you have money to blow..or like some on this board..mom and dad is paying so they could care less about how expensive it is. If you work hard for your money though why waste $5k of it?

I am paying $2500 over sticker.. but I don't really have a problem with it.. If they wanted any more than that... I probably would have passed.. Truthfully the price never really bothered me, just would have been cool to get it at MSRP.. but there is a bit of bragging rite to be had when you have one of the first around your area.

Thanks,
. Looking at the pictures I can count 5 Evos.
Its a dealership in oklahoma?? Maybe demand locally isn't that high for the car in that area.. I do think the 20 cars is total allocation for the year though, it could be all the dealers in the area got together and did that.. (same reason as above) could be that a pickup with a gun rack is just more popular 'round there.. I've been to oklahoma.. All I remember is Cows and large oil derriks (those big pumps with the counterweights on 'em) in the middle of parking lots..

I believe it...
Car market is really really bad right now... with all the
uncertainties (US going to war and others)... car prices are in the
ditch....
Not sure why ANYONE would pay over msrp....
Why pay over MSRP. It is a car after all and prices will come down very soon. Does being the first mean so much to everyone??????
Correct me if I am wrong but when did you all make $2.5k or $5k so quickly that you are prepared to give it away to a greedy dealer. DON"T PAY OVER MSRP.
