Sams club marked my wheels
Sams club marked my wheels
Took my car to get the winters on the stock (perfect) wheels. I asked them over the phone and in person whether they would have a problem not marking them as they are painted with clear coat. No problem they said. So I pick the car up, and on every wheel, there are 2 -3 marks (inlcuding the ones were the stock weights where) near the metal rim that runs around the outside of the wheel
I speak to the manager and she says she will start a claim for me. They took pics with a crappy disp cam, but said I could take my own digital ones and provide them with the claim.
Had one estimate to respray them -$500. Does this seem like a good price? I was thinking they would look good in Gold with my black evo, so maybe I'll have them spray them that color.
Anybody have the stock wheels painted gold and how did they look?
Will post pics of the damage when I get some daylight

Marks from the wheel weights are unavoidable. Marks from mounting and dismounting the tires are avoidable.
Why in the world would you take it to Sams Club though... that's beyond me. Even Tires plus, or some tire store would be a better idea.

Niche tire shops are typically your best bet for race tires and high performance/short sidewall/wide tires. That said a local Firestone only charges $12 per for mount and balance, I may give them a try.

Why sams club. Well I didnt think it was fookin brain surgery to mount and balance 4 tires, and they assured me they could do it no problem. Shoulda payed the dealer 60 bucks to do it instead of 40 at sams. I wasnt trying to skimp, its just that the dealer is 20 mins away and sams is 2. Plus with all the stories of the advans causing people to wreck their evos in cold temps, I was in a bit of a hurry. Mind you, it wouldnt be the first time a dealership had marked the stockers, now would it!
Trying to look on the plus side. Rims painted gold for free with a bit of hassle
Kee1pride, thx for the support.

I worked at a tire shop for 3 years and honestly you can try yourhardest not to mark someones wheels but sometimes the machine will do it, and the weight marks are unavoidable unless you do tape weights, and if they put it on the balancing machine and put the weights on and then respin it and it comes out different they have to remove the weights and start over.
You shouldnt be taking a 30k car to Walmart in the first place.
