it wasnt a regular Evo 8.. it was a FQ-400. an FQ 400 against a Z06. Z06 is a RWD or FR car. If the driver is highly skilled around the track, the FQ-400 wouldnt even have a chance. it depends on drivers' skill, but anywayz Z06

A stock 8 < the Zo6. The Z06 < a BSP or SM Evo 8 if it was pepared well. This is refering to the same driver in both cars and on a dry course... if it was wet it is all EVO.

How about an EVO8 with enough mods to get the cost the same as the Z06? A dollar-for-dollar race?

Z06 is in a higher class in SCCA and if you look at the local times or national times the EVO really isn't in the same league. You might not want to hear this either, but a S2000 will beat a EVO too.

A new Z06 would absolutely destroy an Evo.

I do not know, but a few years ago, before the Evo came to the states I was at an autocross with my RSX, and it was raining and very cold.
We figured the WRX's there, including a wagon would win. But the best time of the day, and overall winner was a blue Z06.

I raced a Z06 with my stock VIII in an AUTOX 2 months ago. Completely crushed him! I think i was a full 9 seconds ahead of him on a course that took an average of 85 sec. to complete. To many 90 degree turns and swerving in and out of cones kept him spinning his tires ALL day. Just about every car with AWD and a little power kept all the RWD cars in the back.

I LOVE THIS CAR!

COMPLETELY depends on the driver. My last auto-x race I edged out a Z06 with full exhaust, 305 radials, 4 point harness setup, etc.

Check the results HERE. My name is at the top ..spelled wrong of course

..my only mod was a TBE for this event, so I ran A Stock.

.8 behind FTD

9 seconds? Sounds there are not too many competitive Z06 driver in your region
I don't think you will see the same result in other regions... Evo has not much chances in most course conditions no matter how the track was setup, except when it rains.

Nine seconds is a lot. I am not sure what he did and ran 9 seconds slower than you, may be he ran off course and took him a while to come back in?

I think all you guys have a better version of the AUTOX that goes on up here? Next time i'll just pipe down. In the state of ND, our AUTOX consists of a BIG parking lot with cones set up all over the place. You can watch everyone racing and they normaly only let one or two guys drive the course at a time but spread out. Kinda dumb i know, but that's North Dakota for ya. I think the Z06 had the same problem i had with my 350Z? Too many stop and goes and nearly complete circles with too much horse power leads to traction problems all day!

Yes i do.. I'll have to research it for you. We had them posted on our DSM forums but someone hacked the site and it no longer works anymore

EDIT: Here is the link. I'm 2nd in my stock Evo VIII and the Z06 is 11th. Conditions were dry and sunny. About 70 degrees or so? Now that i look, i guess it was a little less than 9 sec... He must have done another after i left for the day? AUTOX results

EDIT: Just so everyone knows. The only reason i think i beat him is because of all the turns and his loss of traction. If we did a little straight line racing or even an AUTOX like you "down south" people have with lots of areas for wide open throttle, i'm sure he would have handed me my hat.

Go look at the top times in each class and you'll see the Z06 spanks a EVO. Of course in the end it's all driver specific, but just look at the times and you'll see which car has the most potential.
