Optima Red Top install
okay, for those of you installing an optima red top on your Evo's.. Here's the down low.
after the stock battery is removed,
First you must take off the plastic piece which is attached to a copper piece on the back left side of the battery.. this should give you just enough wire for the positive terminal... then, you must bend the aluminum fittings flat (on both the positive and negative terminals). They are at a 90 degree angles from the factory and that simply will not do when installing an optima. although the + and - termins on the OPTIMA battery are switched, bending the fittings flat will allow the wires to reach across the width of the battery. (NOTE: do not try to reverse the way the battery sits. put the positive side on the left, and and the negative side on the right.. keep the arrangment the same as stock)
Also, on the negative wire.. you must unscrew the grounding point.. (located near the back right side of the batterywhich makes the negative wire so short.. although you lose a grounding point, it shouldn't make a difference..) well after this, it's pretty much self explanitory..
good luck with your optima batteries

thanks a bunch!!!
I have a red top sitting in my garage, except I had trouble fitting it, and i didn't know what to do about the terminals.
WHen you talk about bending the aluminum fittings flat, do they bend easily? I'm scared of breaking them..
