Test drove a IX MR today
Driving Nirvana. I was considering modifying my 240 with a turbo upgrade as well as finishing the suspension work but after driving that thing, there's absolutlely no point. The steering response, overall balance and feel and the acceleration are unlike anything I've ever driven before. Now to figure out how I'm going to get one. Gotta get like 5 or 6 grand together because there's no way I'm financing 36k. Anyways, just thought I'd share. Evolution indeed...
Thanks mate... I'm still debating between the GSR and the MR. I've not driven a GSR so I'm not sure what it's like, but the MR felt awesome. It seems like the gearing is pretty close on the 6 speed.
The 6 speed sucks. I have spent considerable time in both, and trust me, there aren't any upsides to a 6 speed. IMO it just seems like you're shifting all the time, without any real benefit.
It kind of felt that way on the test drive. There was a whole lot of shifting going on. The engine make pretty good torque, so I'm not sure why the need for the close gearing. I would think that it would only get worse once the power goes up. A big selling point for the MR for me is the lack of a sunroof. I really don't want a sunroof. The only other car with an aluminum room is the RS but it's a bit too spartan for me. I drive about 80 miles a day, so I'd need some tunes to keep me sane in Atlanta traffic.

the 5 and 6 spd trannys actually have similar gear ratios (from what i read on this forum couple weeks ago)....so the only thing the MR has over the GSR is really the bilstein goods and the aluminum roof. MR's BBS rims used to be lighter than the GSR's Enkei rims but recently some threads here pointed out that the new IX's enkei rims are actually couple of ounces lighter than the BBS rims....so ye, really tough choice (unless u consider the price difference, then it should be an easy choice

yea i was thinkin about supercharing my integra gsr and going all out on suspension works to make my lil fwd car's acceleration and cornering capabilities up to par...but after i drove the Evo....
let's just say when i'm ready to get the Evo i'm going to sell my gsr and use that money as my Evo's down payment

Yes they let me test drive the MR. Why shouldn't they? My credit and yearly earnings are far more than enough to purchase the car. Anyone that buys a car without driving it first is an idiot in my opinion. There's no way that I would fork over 30K+ on a car without driving it first. The car had 9 miles on the odo when the salesman pulled it off the lot.
