Got my Evo !!
Hi all!
I picked up my LY Evo last night! The process was fairly quick and quite painless. I got to meet the head tech, and the Evo certified tech, as well as lots of other individuals at Sheehy in Manassas. The salesguy, Dave, was very easy to work with. He didn't hemm and haw or employ the sales tactics that we all hate. While I was sitting down watching the pit pass and salesperson walkaround videos, he was out making sure all was set for my car to roll out the door.
When all was said and done, my car drove off the lot for just a hair over $31,000....that included all taxes and tags! I feel I got a great deal!
I now have about 75 miles on the car. Unfortunately, 40 of those miles were experienced at less than 20 mph...thanks to the crappy weather and the DC/MD/VA traffic.
A few things I noticed about this car immediately when driving it;
1. The steering wheel is quite sensitive! I think it's a combination of the stiff suspension and the quick steering ratio. Cars that have body roll usually translate the first 10-20 degrees of steering input into body roll. This car does not experience that at all....and if you move the wheel 1 degree off center, you will begin to turn.
2. The suspension is just barely stiffer than my previous car (ITR). But even though the springs feel stiffer, I think the Evo deals with road irregularities a little better.
3. The interior noise actually seems quieter than in my ITR....and it's certainly quieter than my 61' Mini!
4. The turbo comes on very quickly. If you are used to giving big throttle inputs to get your car going, you will have to adjust your style a bit while your Evo is still breaking-in.
The car is great fun to drive! If you are still on a waiting list, or are waiting for prices to come down in your area, the wait is worth it! I know lots of others have said this already, but it is true!
Thanks all for the good info over the past few months!

congrats... I had the same issue in my commute this morning.. i think the protesters shutting down traffic in DC just made things worse, since i cut right through dc to get to work. That rain out there is freezing, they gotta be a) nuts, or b) very devoted.
the only complaint I have on the car is the fact that the foglights dont stay on, you gotta hit the button for them every time you turn car back on if you want them on.. I'm just leaving them off, the HID's are more than enough.

I got it for $200 under MSRP. Car purchase tax is only 3% here in VA. That really helps!

Well, I've only been here for 4 months now, so I don't know much about the tax situation yet.
I know there is some registration tax paid each year. I'm not sure what % of the cars value is taxed.
But I don't believe you pay a 3% sales tax on the car each year. Since a "sales" tax by name is only levied at the point of sale.
It's always something here stopping the traffic. One day it's a group of protestors, the next it's a l00n on a John Deere in a pond.
SC~ who sat in his new car happily for 2 hours, but only travelled 30 miles.

lol, in va you paid a processing fee on the car...was it $200 making up for the discount? Did Sheehy have any more EVO's or is it a wait list..? In VA you need to get safety inspections every year and emmissions every 2 years... in MD we dont have safety inspections and our tax is 5%....lol THANKS
